A truly amazing place with tons of history about not only Germany, but the world as well. Beautifully preserved and adored by the city it resides in, this tour is surely worth doing. I'm not an art fan AT ALL, but it was still super interesting. If you're in Nürnberg and you don't stop here, you cheated yourself!

Pretty cool little house, museum, and art gallery! It was a nice, indoor escape from walking around the city, and, although most of the artwork is not original, it was neat to see the artwork in Durer's house. If nothing else, it is a good "window" to Renaissance life and living habits. As one of the few preserved and complete Medieval houses in Bavaria (i.e. not destroyed in WWII), it is a singular building.
If you go to Documentation Nuremberg, you can get a combined ticket for a reduced price-well worth it!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 18 May 2019
This is a wonderful museum that showcases the life and work of German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer. The museum offers a glimpse into life in the 16th century. It has period furnishings and offers a recreation of Dürer's workshop.
The only disappointing thing to me is that they have no original Dürer's paintings on display. They are all copies of his principal work, good copies, but not the real thing.
What it lacks in originals it makes up for with the history of the structure itself. It is one of few surviving burgher houses from Nuremberg's golden age, and it is the only surviving 15th century artist's house in Northern Europe. The core of the structure survived Allied bombings, it never caught fire nor suffered a direct hit. The building was repaired and reopened to the public.
With a Nuremberg card this is free and comes with an audio guided tour. It will no take long to go through this museum, 45 minutes to 1 hour at most. There is also a guided tour by an actress who plays Dürer's wife shows you around the house.
Bonus, they give you a coupon to redeem a free gift at the shop across the street. Spoiler, it's a postcard!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Travis D.San Jose, United States05928 Feb 2013
Good small museum. Demonstrations of craft. Would be better if it explored the values of the residents and workers a bit more.
