The wings here are great and surprisingly spicy for Berlin! The staff was friendly but the service was a bit slow. Overall, worth the cost and was very tasty!
I'm used to Korean Fried Chicken being very expensive at home (for some reason, Korean food is really pricey in the States.) So it was a breath of fresh air to walk into Angry Chicken and pay only 3.50 euro for 7 juicy wings (they throw in an extra wing with your order it seems.) The larger sizes are an even better deal, but we were actually coming here on the way to the sibling restaurant Kimchi Princess and couldn't fill ourselves up too much.
We were able to ask for two different kinds of sauce, but keep in mind that they will not toss the end result for you. You might want to ask for an extra metal bowl in which to toss your wings + sauce combo in.
The extra spicy sauce is actually not as spicy as what I've had in the States, but I think we're really just chili fiends here, and the rest of the world isn't quite so masochistic.
I'd love a shack like this in NYC.
I am really giving away the good stuff here, I hope you appreciate that :)
So Angry Chicken, is finger-licking good. I went there for the first time a few days ago with a friend, and couldn't believe the amazing taste. First impressions, it's a small space with a counter on one side that also has some seating and standing room (I think) . Keep an eye towards the back as there is a table for two. We took it and were delighted but be warned, very cosy.
The waitress brought a basket of fries which we didn't order, we got confused and thought one of us had actually ordered them, so started eating... Then she brought the correct order and in the end charged us for everything. I should have asked about it but honestly I was so stuffed and happy I didn't care.
I mention it here as a warning that it's a tad chaotic - the space is small and it gets quite busy so just keep an eye on what lands on your table. But good for you because since I got to taste quite an array of side dishes I can tell you the potato wedges are THE BEST and the sweet potato wedges sound like a good idea, but didn't compare, although were obviously very freshly made so no fault there. Perhaps they just didn't go with what my main dish was....
Bring on the "Friendly" chicken! The "classic crunch" lived up to it's name but could also be called "Evil Goodness", we both agreed we would have scoffed another basket...and I'm thankful they offer something less spicy for us weaklings. The Chicken is meaty, the coating has a very satisfactory crunch and enough spice to be enjoyable and not overpowering. There is a choice of sizes so you can choose if you just want a nibble or a feast.
Added bonus: when we had finished eating, our server brought over a dish with two white lumps. Once she got to our table, she poured water over the lumps and they slowly expanded into hand wipes - fun to watch, and also fret not about leaving the establishment with greasy mitts.
We were happily distracted on our way to Görlitzer Park by place we've been meaning to try, "Angry Chicken". The name in itself is reason to go, but we had recently heard some good reviews & we were literally there standing in front of it.
Fun names like "sexy chicken" and "furious chicken" outline a basic but complete menu of fried chicken with different sauces. 6 pieces are 3.50 euro which is a little pricy, but easy enough that we got 2 baskets of different flavors. (Meals are also available with fries & drink for 7 euro.)
The "friendly chicken" is the classic and where it didn't want for moistness or perfect skin, it was in desperate need of a little S&P (salt & pepper). Push it real good! The so so angry chicken was doused in Korean spiced hot sauce that brought on the kind of slow burn that is sadly missing in the German flavor profile.
Fingers covered in goo, napkins were little help. Luckily, the sweet counter worker let us wash our hands at the sink & filled up our water bottle. Customer service in Germany!? Shocked.
That, was delicious. Thank you my new Korean friend.
Solid Korean fried chicken. Great place to stop on your way to the park from gorlitzer ubahn.
Had the so so spicy wings, fries and a couple bio beers. I'd skip the fries next time and order more wings.
Food is good. Angry Chicken would have tasted better it's served with happy face. Three stars because of atmosphere.
Big fan of Korean food. Not a fan of this crappy/trendy concept shop. Food was really not very good at all. Avoid.
Super tasty wings - spicy and crunchy, amazing sweet potato fries! Service is sometimes chaotic but worth it. Seriously need to franchise and take to the States - would make a killing!
Korean fried chicken? You must be kidding.
I had a set menu with soy garlic chicken which was too salty so that I asked for an exchange with sweet chicken. Both of them were awful. As a Korean I was embarrassed with the quality of food that the restaurateur of Angry chicken call Korean.
I hope to believe that it was the cook who was not feeling well that night But still!
Such a bad experience.
i never thought of korean fried chicken to be something to catch on in europe. though this place may look trendy and soulless, it is seriously some really good fried chicken! and the guys working there are so sweet; they even helped us find a bar we were looking for on our map.
they have all my favourite drinks from childhood and also some korean beers. the furious chicken is mild at first, but it sneaks up on you and suddenly you realize your mouth on fire. it's delicous! i also tried the so so angry chicken, which is much milder and sweeter; closer to what my grandma makes. this is definitely a place i will come back to the next time i'm in berlin.
I visited one year ago,so maybe something changed, but I will write about my experience.Name is only thing that is great about the place.Otherwiseits good food for drunks, when you are drunk, you dont have much expectations, all you care is something hot and greasy in stomach.Very limited choice of drinks. If you want to sit inside place, you face wall, sitting on small uncomfy chairs, eating on narrow metal boardnot my cup of tea. They also have no toilet room in place, you have to go all the way to next restaurant called Kimchi princess. On the other side, staff is really nice and service is fast.
6 Chicken wings for about 3 Euros. Fried fresh, with a selection of sauces from bloody hot - furious chicken to mild. What's not to like?
