About the Business
The Antelope is a beautiful, traditional pub in Belgravia, with plenty of character and a history that dates back to the 17th century. Lively in the evenings, it's also a great spot for lunch in this fashionable part of London.

We came across this little gem while walking from Brompton Road to Victoria. Surprisingly, there are very few pubs in the area, so we had to seek it out. Service was fast and friendly, and it's a buzzing, busy place on a weekday evening after work. Unfortunately they had only one low/no sugar soft drink option on offer, otherwise we'd have perhaps stayed for a second and third drink. However, it's going on my list for next time I'm in the area.

I couldn't have asked for better treatment if I had done the cooking myself when I asked for gluten free in this amazing old world yet always up-to-date pub and excellent place to eat and hang out!! Thanks to all for the fabulous way you take care of me every time I visit!! A must see and enjoy place!!!

Visiting and working here in the UK, friends of mine who have been going for ~15 years introduced me to this place. Wow, what a winner! If you haven't been, then you need to.
And if you're allergic to gluten, then let them know and they will make sure to feed you amazingly well and gluten-free!!! Yesterday I had the beef burger, fantastic... and tonight, the sea bass was absolutely fantastic!
Soooo, better show up and see us in the corner one of these days...

I'm not a huge fan of Fuller's pubs. I like their range of drinks (although they would benefit from having a guest beer to offer a little variety) but I find that most of their pubs are devoid of charm of any kind. I'm not sure quite how they manage it. This pub is another example of this.
This is an old pub too so it should have more charm to it. It dates back a couple of hundred years in its current incarnation, although there was a pub on this site even before then, back when this was swampland and very dangerous swampland at that!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Chris,
I can see that this review is almost 8 years old, but I have recently joined the team at The Antelope, and wanted to reply to all of our online reviews.
We hope that in the past 8 years your opinions of Fuller's pubs have changed. We at The Antelope do indeed offer a guest ale, and I believe this is the case in many of our sites now. It's also not always necessarily a Fuller's ale, either! We recently had an Adnam's ale, or an ale from the brewery based in Wimbledon Common.
We believe that the pub has managed to retain it's charm for how old it is, and gives it a 'traditional' feeling. We hope that you visit again soon, and find your visit to be more enjoyable.

Great neighborhood hood pub. Not touristy at all. Good fish and chips, very good beer selection including craft beer and nice ales.

The pub is quite standard in terms of interior design so don't expect some modern art or hung deer heads inside. It's all wooden and quite comfy I might say. Despite the smallish, crammed tables you're in for an excellent experience and a set of delicious meals. I went in with two friends and we all started off with the soup of the day which came with some crunchy bread. All was good there and we moved to the main. I had the pork belly and oh my, that taste... it was so so so delicious and soft, and melting. I regret nothing, despite the judging looks on my companions' faces when I ate the whole thing.
Some remarks about the Antelope can be mentioned too - it was way too noisy but I guess we did a number on ourselves, going to a pub. Apart from that, it's a lovely place with lots of good food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Danielle S.London, United Kingdom82391520 Jan 2013
I came here with work colleagues after our Christmas night out. We reserved the little snook area, which was nice and intimate, and we had a nice evening.
I'm not sure i would necessarily seek this place out, but it did have a nice, buzzing atmosphere and clean bathrooms (always important!), and I would definitely consider it as an option if I was in the area. It's not life changing, but it's a good, British pub.
The whole time I was there I didn't pay for a drink or go to the bar so I honestly couldn't comment on prices or service, nor could I honestly comment on the type of people it hosts, as I was tucked away in our little corner, but I had a good evening & I wouldn't be out off returning.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ash C.New York, United States72301630 Dec 2011
A cozy, traditional pub with dark wood and a wraparound bar in the middle of the space. Towards the back they have a great little alcove complete with fireplace and rustic leather couches to make yourself at home on. This pub is perfect for a wintery respite.. all you would be missing is the snow outside!
I wouldn't seek this pub out, but it is a brilliantly place for a cheeky pint if you are in the area. A little piece of rustic country amid the urban jungle.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for your review (albeit almost 6 years ago!). I have recently joined the team at The Antelope and thought it prudent to respond to all of our online reviews.
If this is not a pub that you would seek out, there are hundreds of other Fuller's pubs around London! We hope that you return to The Antelope soon, should you be in the area.

I've been visiting The Antelope, on and off, since first moving to London 15 years ago, and in all that time it hasn't really changed. It's pretty traditional, with a lot of dark wood, a charming fireplace which roars its way through snowy winters such as the one we've just had, and a spacious upstairs room, which is great for groups. But, I have to say that the service is so slow it could act as a sleep aid, and on my two most recent visits, I've found it impossible to make eye contact with the bar staff, so adept they are at ignoring the next customer.
For smokers, you can smoke on the footpath at the front of the pub, but forget about taking your drink with you because that, my dear people, ist VERBOTEN.
The food's okay, if you're hungry, but it's nothing to call Giles Coren about. And the clientele? Be prepared for a good 50 to 75% of the Olde Sloane Brigade, with their mustard corduroys, red socks and Mulberry bags. It's a nice pub for the area, but an awful lot of braying does go on within!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for your review. I can see that you review is over 7 years old, however I have recently joined the team at The Antelope and thought it prudent to respond to all of our online reviews. We're happy to hear that you have been visiting for such a long time - and we hope this is still the case!
Our staff are trained to the highest of levels that we can, and service given has become a big part of this. In the two months that I have been working here, the team I have been working with have gone above and beyond to give the best service that they can! I hope if you were to visit again, that this would now be the case for you, and it wasn't a sleep aid anymore!
Unfortunately, you do still have to leave your drink inside when you smoke. It's part of our license that we cannot have any drinks taken off the premises. As we are a pub in a residential area, it's also respectful towards the neighbours!
We hope that you return to The Antelope soon.

The only plus is maybe that it's a real English pub in Chelsea that doesn't have a lot of them left. Apart from it, I didn't like so much the atmosphere, the service, the beer selection, the prices - are all ok but nothing to write home about. Apart from it, all the tables were 'reserved' - so we had to stand.

Dopey barman didn't serve me before a new person that came to the bar (there were only 3 of us trying to get served, not that hard) & took my drink away from the table when it wasn't finished. The roast saved them though - it was pretty good...
