Dublin
I've only ever gone for a night out here twice but enjoyed both times. Great mojito and you're not left waiting half the night for it like in other bars that pride themselves on doing great cocktails. I've been on a number of occasions for brunch at the weekend and always enjoyed it. It's never packed so you're guaranteed a seat. Eggs benedict is a fine big portion and amazing value. Their sausage with egg and homefries is top notch too. And if you're suffering from a hangover then get the chips with garlic aioli too. Their ginger beer mojito is a good refreshing non-alcoholic choice too. Could do with extending the dessert selection a bit but that would be my only gripe!

16.90 for two drinks!??? (and that is one coke and two shorts)... A little pricey for my blood!
However, it is a nicely laid out place with a tremendous smoking area and a good sort of crowd, that makes up for a lot.
Still won't be rushing back though! -

No Name bar varies quite a bit, so it's hard to put a definite rating on it.
During the afternoon/early evening time, I have found this place to be utterly brilliant- very relaxed vibe, lots of room, great acoustics, and magnificent mojitos. Great for a lazy weekend afternoon, or an 'after work' pint. I also love the covered, heated smoking area.
But- something seems to happen to it at about 9pm, which is a strange feeling that suddenly you aren't really 'cool' enough to be there, and start having to fight over standing room with ridiculously posey French people. Why is it always filled with hoards of French people at night time?!
So, it goes from 'great!' to 'headwreck!' in the space of about an hour- at which point, we, less cool folk, sadly feel like leaving. -

Good craic on a Thursday night but I'm not sure how Bar with No Name would fare on a weekend. The interior is quite cool, set up like a trendy apartment meant to mimic rooms in a house. Lots of standing room, not a lot of seats and quite noisy so depending on what you're looking for, this may or may not suit you. Full of hipsters and slightly pretentious clientele. Drinks are moderately priced and a decent selection. With the standing room and setup of the bar, I can imagine weekends are packed, everyone squished together like sardines but toughing it out so on Monday they can go back to work and tell all of their friends "Yea, I was at Bar with No Name at the weekend and it was awesome". I'd go again for a few drinks out, but I'd prefer a place where I can sit, have a conversation and relax over a refreshing pint.

The Bar with No Balls... I hate this place. It's the antithesis of what a Dublin bar should be. Upper middle class posers standing around, deluded that they are part of some non existent Dublin elite, desperately trying to squeeze the last drop of jizz from the death-stiff cock of the Celtic Tiger. The pints are wojus to boot. 'Well loike, it's not really a pint bor loike? The cocktails are really good' No they're not, I live in New York, they're shite.
The Long Hall is across the road, do yourself a favour. Actually don't, stay where you are. Cheers. -

The Bar With No Name. So good they named it once.
When this place opened, I would often go there with a mate after work on a Friday and have a few drinks in somewhere different to what we'd grown used to.
And then the cool people started to find out about it and I no longer felt like I belonged. The kind of people that started to frequent it were the kind of people I love to loathe for trying so hard to look like they don't try.
It does get a bonus point for the night I had there where we managed to convince this girl (that had taken a shine to one of the lads) that we were in fact a boyband and that he was the token gay boybander, which he played up like a pro. It snowballed from a humorous quip and made for a most enjoyable hour or two.
But apart from that the bar is a bit sh1t. -
Review from Annie L.
"Forgive me Father of Hipsters for I have sinned. I am not cool and I should feel endless shame for that fact. I should also accept dismissive contact from cooler, prettier, thinner people that wear clothes that cost more than my wages but yet try to look cheap."
"Go forth child to The Bar with No Name every Saturday night for your sins and rid your down to earth attitude."
In some ways this is unfair of me as I am making this review based on personal preferences and on a particular day of the week so for that I will keep it at three stars.
I really dislike crowds of people posing. I also dislike fighting for standing room, it puts me in a bad mood. But above all that I loathe being made feel less of a person by too cool for school bar staff - I especially hate paying for that privilege. I know, I know, I'm all old fashioned girl who likes warm service. I had my pint and made my excuses to the group and left.
Maybe I should just stick to earlier in the day.Listed in: Dublin Southside pubs!, Brunch Dublin Style!, Pubs on/near Georges street

I like the Snail Bar for weeknights. It's the perfect place to go for casual drinks and conversation. In my mind, it's always a sure thing with good music levels and nice seating. The terrace is lovely for groups too. What is with that giant wooden pig carving? On Saturday nights the place was packed so if you're up for a crowd it's probably great then too.
Also, they have a good cocktail menu. I tried a friend's negroni and it was delish! At €10 though, I usually stick to Paulaner. -

Part of the new years resolution was to stop going to the same bars/clubs over and over and check out some new places. I have known about this place for ages, but never could really motivate myself to give it a look with it's proximity of Hogans and the Market Bar, two places I have no grá for.
I was pleasantly surprised with the place, quirky enough for it to be cool but nice laid back atmosphere. Can get super packed at times (maybe it was just where our group was standing) but can't give out too much about that. Shows its a good venue.
Small enough bars can make it difficult enough when ordering during those busy times but no so much it would make you leave after one or two.
Will be back (after trying out some other new spots!). -
Review from Brandon L.
Great atmosphere and friendly enough service but pretentious patrons. Hipsters seem to favor this joint......lots of hipsters. Beers are a bit expensive but on a weekday night there are plenty of quiet options for a table if that suits you. I went here because I'm staying at Kelly's and I'd do it again. Nice enough place.

"We should go to The Bar With No Name for one. They have Havana Club. Fact." This was the text message that kicked off a night of about six rum and cokes. We fell in love with the stuff in Central America but it's not available just anywhere, which makes us appreciate it all the more.
The Bar With No Name is what quick-thinking folk call this pub on Fade Street because it's a bar. With no name. It's otherwise known as The Snail Bar as there's a cute carving of a snail hanging outside.
The bar staff are efficient and the smell of freshly crushed mint puts cocktails in mind. The clientele are pretty polite. Three guys motioned for me to order first as I'd been there before them. This would be unheard of in many another busy Dublin watering hole.
Drinking in this bar is akin to having a few bevvies in a large, high-ceilinged, atmospherically lit sitting room. People chat in groups and don't bother much with what's going on around them.
If mingling is what has you out in your glad rags, head to the sizeable smoking section, which resembles a circus tent. Smokers will approach you for a lighter, or to ask if you think it's possible to pull a muscle whilst eating a salad, or to tell you that when you walked in, the whole landscape of the place changed. I asked if that was some cheesy chat-up line and he apologised for being abstract, wondered if I was pretentious, and offered to smoke the remainder of his cigarette with his back turned...
At about one am, we wandered around a few other pubs but that seductive snail trail led us right back where we finished off our night in this mysterious untitled bar. -
Review from Bryan B.
I loved having a pint at the Bar With No Name. It's perfectly located if you're in the city centre since it's only a 2 minute walk from Grafton St. You'll probably be surprised by the layout since the place is basically an old hotel that has had a lot of the furniture ripped out (at least that's what my impression was).
The layout is nice and there seems to be a few areas where large groups can hang out. Overall the atmosphere was pretty mellow since I was there on a Tuesday night but can imagine it gets packed on a weekend. Will definitely head here again next time I'm in Dublin. -

Dublin
Ah, 3 Fade Street. Or The Bar with No Name, Kelly's, The Snail Bar: whatever you choose to call it, it's a wonderful place, with excellent cocktails and one of the finest outdoor areas in the city. Really, there are two versions of this bar: the quiet weeknight bar and the insanely packed weekend one.
On a weeknight, this place is the perfect venue for high-quality mixed drinks from skilled and knowledgeable staff. Odds are they can make your cocktail, whether it's on the menu or not. On one occasion, a friend was served slightly different versions of the same drink by different staff members- and one gets the impression that that's because the well-trained staff might have different ideas on how to practice their craft. The outdoor terrace is usually pretty calm during the week, and is perfect for a quiet summer drink.
Weekends, though, are a different beast. On Friday and Saturday nights, the bar is packed to the rafters with young professionals, and while the same quality bar service exists, it's under a lot more pressure, and it might simply be easier to stick to quickly-poured pints by the time you fight your way to the bar. There's little chance of a seat, and you might find yourself outside whether you like it or not (but the covered, heated area is well equipped for shelter).
Luckily, the atmosphere is fantastic when the bar is this full. The tight confines of the bar make it very sociable in a crowded sort of way, and for some reason, it works well in a way that so many other busy spots just don't manage.
So, pick your poison: midweek quiet cocktails or a frantic and fantastic Saturday night. Either way, if you haven't been here, it's time to correct that.
(And I prefer to call it Kelly's). -

Dublin
Unfortunately no longer one of the better kept secrets around town, No Name Bar really is a great place for a few drinks on a Friday evening after work, or a lazy Saturday avo in town - but that's it...don't think i could spend a whole night here...go on guys, prove me wrong!!
The atmosphere is always relaxed and casual, people and staff are very friendly and the wide drink selection will have you well on your way in no time.
You have to get there early to avail of one of the comfy seats inside, or in the heated patio garden where a band can be found to be playing. But never fear, there are plenty of window sills and ledges to lean against and rest your drink upon.
In one sentance: It's like you've crashed a house party but no one wants to kick you out! -
Review from Clarice W.
I feel so special to know about this place. Because it has no name it makes me think of a really cool apartment party in New York.
I was meeting some friends here, but I didn't know where here was until my friend text me saying that she didn't know the name of the bar, just that it is on Fade St. and there is a huge snail hanging above the door... I couldn't help but think, "She doesn't know the name because she has had a cocktail too many."
But she was dead on. Pints were 5 euro and the smoking area is amazing because there are benches that go all the way around with pillows to lean on. This place is cozy and spacious at the same time and definitely not your old man's pub!Listed in: Best of Dublin (IMPO)

Went here last night with an icon of the Dublin live theatre scene, got in a serious conversation with a Cuban woman about hopes for US-Cuban relations, got in a silly conversation with a tall brunette about hillwalking and s'mores, found a new Facebook Friend and the whole time the buzz and the vibe just got better and better. It's got that "We're cool enough that we don't have to act cool" level of chatter, people seem to be actually hanging out with friends and having fun vs. posing for the paparazzi in their heads, and hey, who doesn't love a place with a giant snail???
Bottom line: Cherchez l'escargot!! -
Review from Peter L.
OK, I'm conflicted on this place. Midweek, I think its a cool bar with enough room and just the right side of trendy to not be too pretentious, but its a thin line. Weekend, it jumps over the line in my opinion. I will be the first to admit I am not the coolest but some bars make you feel at ease, this one can be a more intimidating. That said, it fits a niche if you are quite cool or have aspirations that way, Otherwise, it's got a great smoking area even if you want to just sit out, it's busy and the selection of drinks seems good from my few foggy memories.

Yes, it's true this bar has no name. Located across the street from the busy Market Bar, the Bar With No Name is a great find (look for a wooden snail above the entrance) on Fade Street.
The Bar With No Name feels like you're attending a trendy house party. It consists of several rooms with tall Georgian ceilings. There are 2 bars and an outdoor smoking area. Crowd is in their 20s/30s and fashionable for Dublin. A great place for a few cocktails. Get there early to snag a table. -

Dublin
Located just off the ever busy George's Street, 3 Fade Street which is also locally called No Name because of the lack of signage and The Snail Bar due to a wooden carved snail hanging over the door is a fantastic place to visit if you haven't already been there. Managed by reputed Brazilian mixologist, Mr. Rafael Agapito, the cocktail list is professional and cool.
The bar itself is built in an old style, high-ceilinged apartment so consists of a few rooms. They also have a large-ish covered smoking garden with heaters during the winter.
The staff are friendly and professional but have that edge of coolness too which gives this place it's finer quality and attrats the beautiful chic crowd it holds. Definitely a stop on a cocktail pub crawl. Tell Rafa that Slim sent you, it drives him nuts! :PListed in: Cocktails in Dublin

Dublin
An eclectic gathering from the four corners of ireland loiter under the canopied smoking area, sitting on the variety of comfortable and uncomfortable chairs. This place has it's own soul. It's not a traditional Irish pub and yet it's not a Celtic tiger invention. Its a meet your friend for a nice chat..or a place for a first date...and also a good night out. One thing I dislike about it is the lack of music in the smoking area.

Dublin
I know this place as the snail bar and I love it. It's different from all the other bars in Dublin and really it's just like having a few drinks in someones trendy house. Its supposedly one of the best kept secrets in town but judging from the crowds over the last few weekends, the secrets been let out. You'll have to get there early to get a seat but there's usually plenty of standing room.
I love the layout of the bar with numerous spots to rest your drink and have a chat with friends, the staff are great and very friendly, the prices are a bit steep but the music is good. They might need to put some decorations on the Xmas trees though. They were a bit bare last weekend. -

Dublin
This place is OVER. That's what hipsters say when their local gets overrun. This isn't a typical Dublin pub, rather more of a place to hangout - all it's missing is PBR tall boys. Not so much a secret, the bar with many names seems to have settled into being the no name bar. It can get quite crowded on weekend nights. Go during the week and enjoy the couches, the layout, and the nice outside area.

Dublin
On a nice summer's day, the Bar with No Name is the ultimate place to
be.With its refreshing Mojitos and its rooftop terrace, this cocktail
bar beckons the thirsty wanderer in. Situated off the beaten track on
Fade Street, you might miss it as there is no sign to indicate its
location. Instead a wooden snail hangs above a doorway and curious
patrons are asked to climb the stairs to the second floor where the
bar is located. Still relatively unknown, it attracts an eclectic
crowd, from the office nine-to-fivers to the local trendsetters. The
bartenders will give you an unimpressed nod as you order your drink,
but don't be deterred: their indifference is part of the atmosphere.
Although No Name Bar is a tad expensive, it has sophistication and intrigue to offer. -

Dublin
The No Name Bar, Snail Bar, Apartment Bar, or whatever name you choose to give it, is one of the hottest bars in Dublin in recent times.
I've been here twice in the past week. Last Saturday I was here for a friend's birthday, and the place was rammed to the rafters. Last night (Thursday) was slightly quieter, but there were still no seats to be had.
There's a great atmosphere, and a really mixed clientele, from suited business men who've come straight from the office, to arty folk, grungy types and funky fashionistas.
The beer garden is the best in Dublin - a huge, heated area with comfy benches and lovely second-hand garden furniture, covered by a stripy circus-tent awning ringed with fairy lights.
The biggest problem with the place is that its just too dang popular. -
Review from Mary C.
I learned about this place from Yelp, and was dying to check it out after reading the glowing reviews. It sounded just like my kind of place, hip, low-key, good vibes, etc. When I finally did stop in, I enjoyed myself but was somehow let down.
I thought the layout was good, and the seating was excellent. I imagine on a Friday or Saturday you'd want to arrive early to snag a spot though. The outdoor patio was fantastic and on my second visit there was a live band entertaining out there. The prices aren't low, but normal for the area; a glass of white wine and a pint of Paulaner cost 11.50 for example.
The vibe is chill and the atmosphere is nice. You probably won't find a ton of 18 year-olds with big heels and bigger hair queuing up for this place, which is probably why a lot of people love it.
So what's not to like? Well it's hard to put my finger on. I guess I just felt like they could have done more with such an interesting space. Instead if feels like they took an empty room, put a bar and some furniture in it, hung some (really ugly) light installations on the walls and threw up the open sign. I honestly think if they did a little more to the interior it could really be a memorable place. -
Review from Bridget R.
Cool, calm and always collected, a shaky table in this hipper than hip (but seriously fun) bar is never a bad idea.
Explaining it can be tricky, and finding it can be tough the first time around, but I've always loved it here for an after work bevvie with the girls. Once happy hour rolls in things get very busy, and that fun vintage bar stuck in the corner suddenly seems about 10 miles away, but don't worry. The professional staff aren't making getting your drinks a popularity contest and I've always gotten prompt service when on my round.
And with the fun art on the walls, silky low lighting and all those comfy couches, the feel here is as casual and fun as the name (or... lack of a name) suggests! -

Dublin
Go here for a drink while you're waiting for a table in L'Gueuleton or stay here for your night out before dancing later. I had heard of "The bar with no name" and that it was like having a pint in a sitting room. When I got there I discovered it's much cooler than that.
I heard that it was just an empty apartment above the restaurant and because the queues were so big, they decided to open the bar. It's very trendy, has a funky crowd and is one of the cool places to go at the moment.
The only problem is that it's all little rooms so it's a bit disjointed, makes it good fun trying to find your friends! -
Review from Jo M.
Amazing venue that attracts its masses of crowds simply by word of mouth, because it has no name, and as far as I know, does not employ any kind of marketing strategies.
The venue is made up of several rooms which all open onto each other, and a pretty cool outdoor section. You really do need to time your visit here, because sometimes there is a huge queue to get in... weeknights are generally a better bet than weekends.
You could easily while away an entire evening in the pleasant surrounds of No Name, it has the relaxing and laid-back vibe of a party in someone's living room. Be sure to check out the table in the 'lounge room' part - it is held up by wine bottles - so unbelievably cool!
Personally I like to pull up a chair next to one of the large windows and alternate between people watching outside and inside the bar. A fairly well-dressed corporate crowd usually patronises this bar, but as long as you're fairly decently dressed you won't look out of place.
Surprisingly the prices aren't too high here (from appearances they could be a lot higher) and you can pick up a lovely glass of wine for 6 euro. And what awesome wine glasses - very chic!Listed in: The Ultimate Dublin Pub Crawl

Dublin
This used to be my favourite place for a Saturday brunch. I went here almost every weekend, but as tends to happen, my friends and I eventually grew tired of the menu. I hadn't been here for months when I finally ventured up the stairs again on a Friday afternoon and was delighted to see that nothing has changed.
The spacious bar still has the same friendly service, good mojitos and easy-going buzz. And not to forget the smoking garden with the heaters and the tables and the perfect setting to meet up with a group of friends for a few drinks while trying to decide what to do with the rest of the night. Thanks for the constant greatness! -

This place is great, has a great vibe, kind of reminds you of a very posh student party house!! it was probably better (aka you could get a seat!) when very few people knew about it, but it still plays great music, and they make the best mojitos in Dublin which are quite reasonably priced..!

Dublin
I was in this bar last friday and all I can say is that it reminded me of a boring house party. The bar is small and it can take long to get your drink to wet your whistle. The only good point to this pub was the outside drinking area. I would not go back to this bar in a hurry.

Review from Farrell P.
Fortunately, this bar lives up to it's reputation. It might be a little too cool for me, but you definitely feel like you're at a swank, slightly hipster apartment party...perhaps post concert or gallery opening. Brick walls, hardwood floors, low bars, pulsing music, nice lighting, nice bartenders, decent prices. It's just fun to walk in. Smoking garden is also awesome. Love the almost circus-like tenty roof and wooden benches. Yes, I will sit down and have a beer.

Dublin
I've only been in here once but I was pretty impressed. It is cooler than cool to be honest. It reminded me of the kind of house that would be throwing a party in your student days - all high ceilings with a chic shabbiness and understated trendiness. We hit the cocktails, which were delicious but not cheap. The place might look studenty, but the prices are far from it! There was four of us so a round was costing about €40 - ouch. The recession has really hit since that night out so I reckon the next time I'm in there I might stick to beer. It was full of beautiful people - male and female - so don't go in there feeling like you're not looking your best. You'll come away with a severe dent in your self-esteem! Definitely check it out though - even if none of us are sure what it's officially called!
