Review from Mary C.
As Laura mentioned, the bubble gum pink storefront of Beads and Bling is irresistible, as is the great name. They seem to have gone in the opposite direction of the American rappers who coined the term and instead Bling represents hundreds of different types of beads, notions, findings and jewelry making supplies, rather than diamond encrusted pimp cups and Jesus faces.
The selection here is awesome, the best I've seen so far in a bead shop in Dublin. They've got every material represented, from plastic to crystal to stone. Unlike some of the other shops I've visited, Beads and Bling has a great assortment of focal beads and beads that are different shapes. I found some darling little leaf earrings that basically made themselves. I didn't have to design a thing, just threw them on some wire, and put them on some earrings. Done and done, and all of the supplies came from here. -

I am going to disgaree with the previous reviewers - I really see nothing great about this shop.
I too was drawn in by the look from the outside but what I found inside was the same cheap quality yet highly priced material.
There was nothing in this store that I couldn't find at the shop across the bridge (which I'll review in a minute) and no good reason why I should pay 2.25€ for 8 plastic beads. I'd pay that for glass - and DO, online.
Aside from the things mentioned above, I wil say that the woman behind the counter didn't even acknowledge me when I walked in.
She had one customer in there. She looked right at me and looked away. I'm sorry, do my peter pan boots make me look like I have no money? Cos I've actually been known to spend a paycheck on jewelry supplies. Which brings me to my next point - I think this place is for starters. Anyone who knew better wouldn't waste their time here.
I've had a jewelry company for the last few years and always buy online from independent sellers who give me good service, good quality and good prices. I'm not talking bulk either - I mean 2 of these, 4 of those and a little of that.
The woman today asked her customer " or did you want the knotted one?"
"what's that?"
"the knotted one."
"what do you mean?"
"it has knots."
you could tell she was annoyed and simply put, not made for helping out anyone who was interested in starting a new hobby.
No thanks. -

I don't know what makes one bead store superior than another so I brought my friend, the amateur jewellery maker, with me to Beads and Bling.
She was enthusiastic about the shop, showing me all the pretty things she wanted to buy. The shop sells more than just beads; it has all the necessary tools (pliers, wires, needles and hammers) to make your own creations.
If you're not that creative, you can also commission one of the staff to make you something. According to their brochure, they made headpieces for the dancers of Riverdance. They also boasts about being on "The Afternoon Show".
The people who work here are more than qualified to teach jewellery enthusiasts a thing or two. In fact, the shop offers classes for all levels. -

This is a great little jewelry making shop that, as Laura C. mentions, is a treasure trove of beads, findings, chains and tools. However, I've just gotten into jewelry-making and if I hadn't done a lot of research about what I needed before visiting, I would've felt a bit lost. The staff are kind of dippy and, while nice enough, not particularly helpful. I'm really at home in craft stores, so I felt ok, but I can see more unfamiliar people being overwhelmed. It has teeny tiny aisles that are definitely not wheelchair accessible.
But if you're already familiar with jewelry making (and are able-bodied) this is a great resource and it can't be missed! -

Any shop that has a bright pink storefront had better live up to its promise, and Beads and Bling do so with aplomb. An Aladdin's cave of shiny pretty things, here you can stock up on anything you could ever possibly want to make jewellery, or just to add your own touch to something a bit plain. Each drawer brings its own lovely surprise, and the range is amazing, from precious stones to plastic stars and everything in between. If you're into arts and crafts, this shop is a must-see. It has any supplies you could need as well, from findings to ribbons and clasps. It does, however, tend to be a bit on the pricey side for what you get, though what you get is very nice...
