It's too bad that we were there after dark in the winter and didn't get to enjoy the riverfront, but the pub itself was charming and cozy.
We got a table right by the window as we were there quite early in the evening thanks to the jet lag. I got a Fuller's Frontier and the Wild mushroom & spinach gnocchi with sage. My colleague enjoyed the burger. The food was all you'd expect of pub food and more - creamy and rich, thoroughly comforting, with lots of flavor.
The space itself feels cozy, despite it being more spacious than most pubs I've visited. It was decorated for Christmas, making it feel even more inviting.
Service was attentive enough - took orders but then let us enjoy the evening. It was a team of servers, rather than just one, and all were friendly throughout the experience.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robin W.London, United Kingdom327727326 Nov 2008First to Review
I visited last week, walked in looking anonymous and waked straight past the bar into the seating / eating area. The barman said hello and could he help, ignored him and carried on. Was then greeted by a waitress who said hello and then a bit further on by the Manager who said hello and asked if she could help me and did I want to eat. That for me is an indication of good service which did indeed follow.
A large and imposing Fullers pub set on the banks of the river on the Chiswick side of the Thames. Very traditional inside with carpets and lots of dark wood and traditional chairs etc. Great views over the river and a seating area outside also.
A great place to take your parents, grand parents, family, friends etc for a relaxing and no fuss sort of a meal in a traditional London pub. Go for a leisurely stroll along the short towpath and then head back for a pint and some scoff. Good food, good service and everything is shipshape here on the banks of the Thames. Not flash or grand but honest and pleasing. There are three pubs along this stretch and this one is easily the best.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David F.San Francisco, United States130111 Oct 2018
The fish & chips I just ate at the bell and crown was perfect. I am an expatriate over in England to celebrate my mother's 94th birthday, and from time to time I have frozen cod in batter in the US, with regrets. I saw haddock as the fish on the menu, which gave me hope. I thought about my boyhood, and being sent to the fish n chip shop. "Everything fresh", reminded my mother, "and run back so it stays hot!" Fresh fish, triple fried chips, vinegar and the works. The bell & crown fish was perfect, served on the chips to keep it crisp. Hot. Flaky. Chips too hot to handle. Thanks!!

Loved this pub we found on our bike ride along the themes! There is indoor and outdoor seating and some of the indoor dining area has an amazing view too. You almost can't sit closer to the river than here. We had lunch and it was so good! My boyfriend had the beef burger plus bacon and I had beef nachos. One of the best nachos I had in a long time. Good quality, loads of cheese and three different types of sauces. Good choice of beer and lovely atmosphere. Most definitely gonna come back here to enjoy the short English summer!

Awesome pub!
Food is really tasty, I like especially their meat pies.
Stuff are very friendly and ready to help you to do your choice.
Beer good, too.
There are a lot of people, most of them seem to be locals - that for me is a best indicator for a good place.
And this is a really nice place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - T E.Pasadena, United States43696532720 Jun 2010
Gorgeous spot for drinking in the evening sun by the river and when it's low tide you can play on the mud banks. They serve good honest Fullers beer and if it's too cold to sit on the Thamespath then there are big windows to look out of.
The negatives...
A band of accordian players turning up and ruining the peace. I hate accordians.
Also... Nearly a fiver for a bitter and a pack of crisps?!! WTF sell walkers please not poncey tyrrells.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Qype User (amylou…)London, United Kingdom353318 Jan 2009
The Bell and Crown pub is situated in Strand on the Green, right by the Thames. It is in a lovely location and has a conservatory with great views over the river.
The pub is a good place to come for a traditional Sunday lunch, and was busy when I went. The food was yummy although not cheap - I had sea bass for my main meal, which was £12.50. One of my friends had a roast dinner, which was a similar cost. They serve a wide variety of different food, but, while there are a lot of interesting meat options (from burgers and steaks to roast partridge) the selection of vegetarian dishes was very poor This could stop me going back again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Hesseh S.Tividale, United Kingdom2387851221 May 2013

A real traditional Fullers pub with excellent quality right on the river. Not so trendy as the City Barge, more mature and reserved for a relax pint of London Pride
