I was feeling a bit under the weather yesterday, self inflicted. I had spent the night before at a friends birthday party and they are all musicians so it carried into a traditional ceili which led to the wee hours.

My friend looked at me the next morning and said,
'You need to chill in the garden.'
'What garden?'
'The one on top of Chester Beatty Library.'

So I shuffled in hangover pain to the top of the library. What an oasis of calm up there. It may be small but it holds such a calming atmosphere. I just sat back and fell into a doze and when I came to there was a man meditating beside me, two lovers napping in front of me and another lady stretched out taking in the sun on another bench. It does that to you that place.

Great view of the city. Great place to read a book, take a date or just take the pain out of a hangover. My new favourite place in the city.

After you check out the beautiful manuscripts and religious books on display at the Chester Beatty Library, you can head on up to the top floor and reflect on the roof garden. There's a couple of benches and a nice view of bamboo.

What makes this roof garden better than others of its kind is that it's quiet and secluded. Not many people would think of heading out to the museum to relax but it's the perfect location. Unlike other gardens or parks that have been taken over by rowdies, this one is still serene and clean. Bring a book and lose yourself for an hour or two.
