Review from Adam C.
It's pricey, it's huge and the service can be a bit slow, but the surroundings are great, it's in a great location and they always have seats free.
There is a large pastry selection too, which I have sampled and enjoyed (a bit too much).
Downstairs they can accommodate large parties, if that is your thing - a rarity in coffee shops, and the coffee is decent, drinkable, consistent.
Is there better coffee to be had in Dublin? Yes
Is that coffee near Grafton Street, Trinity etc. and in nice surroundings where you can always get a seat? No
You are paying a premium for the location, but in general it is worth it. -

It's easy to take pot shots at franchise cafes when you know about the hidden gems a few streets down. But, when time or knowledge don't allow for more authentic excursions (*cough* 3FE on Abbey St *cough*) Costa Coffee fits the bill.
No surprises, no inspiration, no cheap deals. Costa tows the line of the UK brand's other outlets with own-brand coffee and pricey nibbles on the side. Like the chains seeded throughout Britain's urban areas, Costa Dublin is a hope-to-be-seen spot Dawson street for the caffeine starved ... or clueless. -

Have to agree with most of the posters here, nice location, little bland on food and unless you have a window seat the opportunities for people watching are limited. Worst part about it are the prices, with no sign of a deal or reduction for having food or a snack with your coffee.
There are much nicer cafes on this street, never mind in Dublin.
One hour free wifi with coffee which was nice but could not spot any power outlets as my battery was low (although that's not a big issue). -

I actually think this is one of the better cafes on Dawson St. The location is great and there's always plenty of seats available, even at lunch time on a week day.
It is very pricey, especially if you're getting some food. The chicken paninis are delicious but a bit steep at 5.95. The coffee is excellent as well.
Whenever, I'm meeting friends for lunch, I suggest this place as it's always quieter than the other smaller nearby cafes. Plus, if you want to just sit down and read a book or the paper, it's also a great spot.
They just need to bring the prices down to a more reasonable level. -

Nope, not the biggest fan to be honest. I find it expensive, and they've substituted quality for quantity, which is fine for milk-based coffees like cappuccinos and lattes, but ruins a good americano. My mother drinks decaf, and found it undrinkable, as they had only put one shot in, which, with their ginormous servings, is far from adequate. The staff were fierce nice though.
If you're looking for a coffee in this area, go to anywhere else. And John, on this side of the road, the Reader's Cafe in Waterstones is far far far better! -

Dublin
Although Costa coffee are bigger then Jesus (and starbucks) in the UK. They've only recently made the move to expand into 'the republic' and this Dawson street store, while a little bland certainly proves they've plenty of cash to throw around.
Located in the old royal sun alliance on the corner of Dawson street and Molesworth street. Its a big shop so theres plenty of room. As well as coffee, latte's, cappuccino, tea they have pastaries, muffins, sandwiches.
Its a bit like Starbucks really but not quite as bland. Unlike Storbs, the coffee is actually nice served in gigantic mugs with two handles. Pretty good muffins too.
Theres lots of places to get coffee on Dawson street so they've a lot competiton but again its not bad for what it is and for those to lazy to cross the road, its the only coffee to go shop on that side. They also have runners to bring the food to your table. -

Dublin
Costa Coffee has a killer location on one of Dublin's most enlivened streets, Dawson Street. But what this establishment can boast in terms of vivacious location it certainly fails to match up to in any kind of lure.
The cheapest thing on the menu is a Green Tea for €2.30, an extortionate price for a paltry tea bag in hot water. The interior fails to rouse any sentiment either with the customary Costa burgundy lining the leather chairs, pallid tables and atmosphere left pining for some kind of stimulation.
The best thing about this spot is the people watching that can go on if you get a seat near the window otherwise considering the large contingency of good quality coffee shops in the surrounding area there is really no reason to go here unless you feel some peculiar attachment to it. -

I am so excited to see another Costa in Dublin! I am addicted to there chocolate twists! They are divine! Their coffee is really nice and smooth and they always have soy milk in stock!
