On a work trip to Frankfurt. After going through several shops in downtown Frankfurt and being disappointed by the no inventory at the Rolex shop, we decided to the visit the countryside. Michelstadt won our random selection process.
We stumbled through the town to find Hasen Frei. As we walked into the restaurant, I was relieved that they had english speaking staff. My german sucks. We asked to seat outside to enjoy a gorgeous clear October day.
There were several interesting items on the menu but we settled on the wild boar stew. It was an awesome choice.
Bridget and Connie, our waittresses, presented us with a plate of dumplings and maybe cranberry sauce. Connie brought out these kettles out over a tiny flame. It was so cool. She asked us not to hurt ourselves.
We finished off with the single serving chocolate souffle dessert. Damn great end to a wonderful meal.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sherri V.Vancouver, United States852 Apr 2017
We stayed here on our trip around Europe. Great hotel and the food was the best we had had in 19 days. AMAZING!!! A must if you are tramping through Germany!

This place is a wonderful and nice restaurant with local food. The food has always been outstanding quality and taste! They take good care of every customer and the place is very beautiful with a nice countryside atmosphere I a half-timbered house and they have a nice open fireplace and backyard to sit in during summer season. Place is well managed and one of my favorite restaurants.
