Pear and parsley soup. Smoked duck breast salad. Could use more arugula and less duck but I'm weird like that.
One star for the trendy Temple Bar location. A second star for being seated right away even though it was highly recommended in Lonely Planet 2010. (I expected a really long wait.) A third star for attentive and knowledgable service. A fourth star for the price (the prices are good for the quality of food). A fifth star for flavor. And a bonus point for having for your not-so-run-of-the-mill items, i.e. leek sausage and smokies. -

We ended up here after our reservation was cancelled by Pichet.
Surroundings were bleak. Interior was shabby without the chic.... actually quite tatty.
Service was okay and the food was nothing to write home about.
I believe if you have a kitchen or food prep area on view it should look good and not have plastic containers on view.

Always one to make an entrance, I decided to enter in through the back door. Pacing up and down as diners looked on perplexed through the windows forced a server to usher me in through a side door. You enter through the main door which is on Sycamore street. Learn from my stupidity.
To start I had the nettle ravioli which had a scattering of pine nuts on it and a drizzling of sage butter. Without doubt my favourite dish. The woody flavour of the pine nuts worked so well with the sweetness of the butter and the nettles had a pesto taste to them but with more lightness and dryness.
For main I had the spinach, pinenut and minted feta parcels with couscous salad & tzatziki. The portions were huge and the parcels did not disappoint, the mint freshened my tongue from the very savoury starter so a nice combo. The couscous erred on the side of dry but that was just a minor thing and it definitely did not take away from the meal.
For dessert I had the sorbets and the presentation was exquisite. You can't go wrong with sorbets, well maybe you can but you have to try very hard. The flavours were fresh and invigorating but the presentation really was a piece of art. From a pink macaroon to a cookie to a coiled piece of sugar... It really made the table gasp.
Altogether for the pre-theatre (only Monday & Tuesday) it was €29 for three courses. Excellent value.
Interior is bright and airy and two separate upstairs area were you can have what feels like a private dining experience with a large group. Scandinavian feel to the spot.
Service was very attentive but as Emily said they were a bit slow at the end in giving us the bill, she actually had to get it but if that is the only "major" compliant then fantastic. At least they were not hounding us or trying to up-sell us or turn the tables. -

Our venue for the first meeting of foodie club.
I started my evening of noms with a bellini. I must say it was beautiful. Then on to the food. The cod was so fresh and succulent and Anne L let me taste some of her nettles, which were really good despite my suspicions that they might sting my tongue.
I finished it off with an opera, which thankfully was not people singing but a beautiful combination of belgian chocolate and raspberry. Oh so good.
We were left waiting for the bill as has been mentioned but overall the experience was lovely.

I've been to Eden a few times over the years and went back tonight for the first unofficial Yelp event, the Foodie Club.
I had the lovely smokies to start followed by the lamb neck fillet with mini shepherd's pie which was delicious. There was some lovely bread and I had a decent Americano to finish as I'm not a big fan of desserts - although I did have the cookie from one of the ice-cream starters!
The service was good (although we did have to ask for the bill after waiting a while).
While we were there we established (thanks Google) that the restaurant's been there for 15 years - who knew.
Great food, great chats and I'll definitely back for the 2 for 1 cocktails offer at brunch. -
Review from Molly T.
Went there with a group of 7 for dinner. We had amazing service and the food was great.
I highly recommend their homemade lemonade, potato pancake dish and the ice cream.
I agree with another Yelper that the place is cool but could use a little refreshing. It just feels a bit worn and not in the right way.
Still - a great meal and exceptional service. I would go again for sure. -

Brought my parents and sister to this restaurant for a Family Occasion.
When I rang to book the girl who answered the phone was very helpful and polite. I received a confirmation phone call on the day I had booked the meal for, which was very nice.
We had the Pre-Theatre(Early Bird Menu), and all I can say is that it was amazing. If you like fish, make sure you try the "Smokies" for your starter. I think the "Smokies" vary but the main ingredient is always smoked fish. My sister liked the look of a starter but did not know if she would like the cheese (Monteray Jack), she said this to the waiter who promptly brought her a taster of the cheese which was delicious and as such she ordered that particular starter. The Chef Special was announced to us by the Chef and even though it was not stated on the Pre-Theatre Menu it was included in the Menu for us.
I was the only person able for dessert but it was amazing. I can't remember exactly what it was called but it was Macadamia Nut Cheesecake and it was beautiful.
The service was fantastic, the atmosphere delightful, the food was amazing, and at €24.95 for 2 Courses and €29.95 for 3 Courses on the Pre-Theatre Menu, this was the best meal for the best value I have had in a long time.
Why the star loss, well a main course was served without the fish on the plate. It was very quickly noticed (about 2 secs) and brought back to the kitchen where we could see the Chef placing the fish from a pan onto the plate. Also 2 of us ordered steak (one well done, one medium rare) and they were given to the wrong people. Pretty pedantic i know but its hard to give a 5 star rating, but its even harder to find a fault with Eden.Comment from Mark M. of Eden 26/4/2011

I ate brunch at Eden this morning. It's a beautiful restaurant with delicious, reasonably priced food. My friend and I each ordered the apple cinnamon pancakes, which we quickly demolished. I drank a cappuccino, while she had the homemade lemonade. While the lemonade might be fine when paired with another dish, it tasted lip-puckeringly sour with our sweet pancakes.
After perusing the lunch and dinner menus, I could definitely be tempted into eating there again. -

Wow is right. Ate here on my last night in Dublin. It was absolutely amazing. I arrived at 7pm on a Friday night and although they said they were booked, they sat me at a table that was free until 8:30pm, which was very kind of them. The 8:30pm reservation was late so we could take our time to enjoy some of the best food we've tried in Dublin. The scallops were the best I've had EVER anywhere. The smokies appetizer was rich and one of a kind. Overall, really great service, delicious food, and a lovely atmosphere.

Review from Charles F.
Totally overrated, totally overpriced and decidedly mediocre. Started off with a cocktail, an old fashioned to be specific. Maker's Mark is a poor choice of bourbon, every other bourbon in its price rang is better, not enough bitters or seltzer, no cherry, small ice cubes, straight up crap for its 10 euro price tag. I can make better at home, and I do. The signature starter dish followed, the smokies, and to be fair, they were tasty. For the main course, tough, tasteless sirloin with under-cooked chips, unforgivable at these prices. Ireland is blessed with the best beef in the world with the exception of Argentina, how a high end restaurant like this can't source good meat and cook it properly is beyond me. Rounded the night off with a weak, lukewarm espresso and was glad to see the check arrive. Much like Maker's Mark is to bourbon, every other Dublin restaurant in this price range is better than Eden.

You know that girl? You know the one you really like, but don't exactly know how to tell her? The one that makes your heart race and your insides funny and you'd love to just spend a day sitting on a cliff looking out to the sea, holding hands and talking to, and share a bottle of wine with before whispering to her "I really really like you" no matter what the cost, the circumstances or the problems are? The one you'd love to do that with but have no idea how to, or how to tell her just how much you like her? Well, Eden is the restaurant you bring her to.
Extremely convenient in Temple Bar, Eden has a couple of great points to it as well as location - the great staff and the great wine list. The food is an added bonus - cooked just the way you like it (if you specify) but with the wine and cocktail list, that doesn't matter too much, does it?
In truth, the food they source is high quality and you can't really fault them on much, besides popularity.
It is expensive, that's true, but hey, isn't good food and drink worth paying for once in a while? Not to mention how impressed herself will be... if you get the courage to ask her. You should, you know. -
Review from Dave S.
One of my favorite restaurants in Temple Bar. Excellent well-prepared European food served in a stark white and trendy atmosphere. I've eaten here quite a few times and definitely recommend the smoked duck salad, beef sirloin, and the apple pancakes (the later if you're there for brunch). My friends always and I do mean always seem to get the smokies and claim they're the best in Ireland (though mixing cheese and fish isn't for me). Eden is one of those few places that is great for brunch, lunch, or dinner---really all 3!
For brunch and lunch, Eden's outdoor patio is the place to be on a sunny day!
Prices are a bit high---definitely one of the more expensive places in Temple Bar, but they do several good 2 and 3 course fixed price menus (starting at 18 euros) that makes it more affordable in these tough times. Regardless you'd be hard pressed to find a better meal and top-notch service in this neighborhood. -
Review from Erin H.
Wow! We finally found Eden on our last night in Dublin. I wish we had found it sooner, as we probably would have eaten here each night it was so good. My friend's guide book (Rick Steves) had mentioned Eden, but it was the local reviews here on Yelp that truly made us decide to give it a try.
We took advantage of the 2 and 3 course menu specials that are from 6-7 PM (or pre-theater). You could get 2 courses for 25 euros or 3 for 29. My friends and I each got 2. She opted for the smokies as an appetizer and graciously shared with me. DELICIOUS! Smoky, creamy, and cheesy. The portion for 1 is generous, so was easily shared. I went with the pan-fried steak for my entree. Again, the portion was pretty generous, so I thought there would be no way I could eat it all. It was so tasty I almost finished it all. The steak was cooked perfectly and the pan-frying gave it a lovely sear. The mashed potatoes with mustard seed and spinach had a nice tangy flavor along with the creaminess. The green beans and carrots were among the best I have ever had. I don't know what they did to the carrots, but it was delicious. My friend had the chicken with a bean cassolet. She loved it. We finished with the lemon meringue mousse, which was a frozen piece of heaven - tart, yet sweet, and not too heavy. I also had to try the Eden Bellini. Yum.
The ambiance was very calming. There are plants hanging from the ceiling. One wall is windows, looking out on the patio. You can also see into the kitchen and we were very impressed. Not only was our food absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, the kitchen staff was very calm and professional and seemed to work as a championship team. We could see that they cooked everything to order, but everything still came out in a timely manner and they never got rattled. Bravo chefs!!!
My friend and I are now huge fans. Too bad we live in Denver (a bit too far for regular visits). We will be back if we ever return to Dublin. -
Review from Andrew C.
Another one of my favorite restaurants for when I'm visiting Dublin. Eden has a great mix of authentic Irish fare, as well as other European classics. The decor is clean, modern and trendy -- I like it.
I started my meal with the Bellini cocktail and an order of the Mussels. I can't describe it, but the Bellini was one cut above what you'd expect anywhere else (see pictures!). It was served with some blueberries for a nice sweet kick. The mussels were cooked perfectly; I wish I could remember what else was in there, but they were certainly good.
My main course was the Halibut with Cous Cous. The portion was a bit small for what I was paying, but the quality was top notch. The fish was pan-fried with the skin on (bonus points for that!) and served on top of a cous cous salad and seasonal greens. The cous cous was just a little acidic and paired well with the fish. A very well composed dish overall.
My dinner companion had the traditional Irish Beef Stew served with mashed potatoes and a yummy puff-pastry top. I'm not sure what there is to say here... it's nice and hearty with generous chunks of beef -- perfect for a cold winter evening. The mashed potatoes were great on there own and even better when mixed with the stew. If only everyone could make beef stew this good.
Eden's a bit pricey, but the food really stands out. If you're only in Dublin for a short time, stop by Eden to see what good Irish food is all about. -
Review from Wendy S.
Eden is an oasis in crazy Temple Bar. I happened to be in town to see U2 at Croke Park, and the entire area was besieged by drunken tourists from around the world. Seeking somewhere near my hotel (The Morgan) that wasn't bar food, Eden came highly recommended by both family and Zagat.
Upon entering the lofty space, you immediately feel at ease. There are two levels and a large outdoor, covered patio for warmer months. There is a modern vibe, with white furniture and muted tones. The service was friendly and helpful, and the menu focused on local, seasonal ingredients.
I started with the duck liver parfait, with red onion marmalade and toasted brioche (photo included). This dish was beautifully presented and the flavors were divine. For my main course I chose the recommended pan roasted breast of irish cornfed chicken with mashed potato, braised red cabbage, roast parsnip, rosemary, and garlic jus. Simple, delicious, perfection.
I enjoyed Eden so much, that I ended up dining there again later that week with friends and was lucky enough to enjoy two other delicious dishes: their famous Eden Smokies (smoked haddock with spring onion, cherry tomatoes, creme fraiche, and melted cheddar) which were insanely tasty, and the panfried fillet of irish beef with homemade chips, roast red onion, green beans, roast carrots, and béarnaise. Outstanding.
Simple flavors, local ingredients, friendly service, and a modern yet warm environment. This is Dublin today, and I'm loving every minute of it. I will certainly continue to frequent Eden each time I'm in Dublin.Listed in: Give me cheese or give me…

Eden takes the locavore/organic trend to stunningly creative heights that nevertheless respect traditional ingredients and techniques. There's a variety of cheeses, meats, and seafood to please everyone in your group. There's an ample wine list, and dessert was equally breathtaking, simple yet elegant. I cannot wait to go back.

On Saturdays, thanks in part to the square's food market, Eden's small, but perfectly formed, terrace is a great spot for some serious people watching.
Outside, seats are limited but if you're lucky enough to score one it's very much worth a visit (in spite of its frankly overpriced menu). And, it's a much more refined location than the hideously hectic Temple Bar Square nearby. -
Review from Chad H.
A little disappointed in Eden overall. Eden is a pretty fancy restaurant and, along with that, fairly pricey. For an appetizer, meal, dessert, and drink, I dropped €60. Yikes!
My appetizer was a gnocchi plate, which would've been tastier if it had more than 3 gnocchi. Kind of lame. For dinner, I got a duck confit, which was also not as good as I had hoped. The duck just didn't have a lot of flavor to it (which is tough to do, because duck is normally a bad ass meat) and the outside skin was a little burnt in parts. The place was slightly redeemed by dessert - a very tasty peanut butter and jelly ice cream parfait.
The decor is nice on the inside, however my service was a bit lacking. The waiter, in his defense, was working a very large table nearby. However after I asked for the check it took him nearly 15 minutes to bring it to me, and even then he finally had to have one of the hostesses come and do it. As a former waiter, its fair for me to critique a wait that long as unacceptable.
I wouldn't go back. You can get more bang for your food buck elsewhere. -
Review from Rachel S.
Eden receives lots of positive press, and rightly so. Their Eden Smokies appetizer was eye-opening -- smoked haddock with spring onion, tomatoes, crème fraiche & cheddar. I'd go back for this alone. We also tried the lamb with shepherd's pie and a few other dishes I don't particularly remember well. I loved my Eden cocktail.
We visited on a sunny Spring evening & they were packed, so we were seated upstairs. Service was okay, but definitely spotty. -

Is it me or is it always really difficult to come up with somewhere in Dublin that does a good brunch? I returned to Eden last Sunday week for Brunch with two friends. Delighted to find out that cocktails were 2 for 1, we began as any Sunday Brunch should, with cocktails all round! Every time I come here I have the Smokies. You just can't go wrong with them. Followed by a Curried Chicken breast and several more cocktails we had a very enjoyable afternoon. Staff here are great too.

I really enjoy my food, good quality food. Love their eggs Benedict :) however I am Irish and my mother raised me saying "always cook the white of the egg fully"...I really feel quizey when the white of the egg is like clear jelly..please please cook it properly! Thats my only complaint! Waiter was attentive and the food was top notch! All at a respectable price too!

Eden is the perfect treat restaurant. You could bring your granny here for Sunday lunch, or that perfect someone on a romantic date, and both would be equally delighted with the excellent food, buzzing atmosphere and professional service.
The last time I ate here was around Christmas last year, and the lunch menu had a decidedly seasonal feel, but unusual (and most welcome) was the absence of turkey and ham from the list. To start I tried the smoked duck, served with roast beetroot, rocket and hazelnuts. For mains, they had choices like squash and cranberry risotto, or fish of the day, but I opted for the goose with braised red cabbage, which was crispy on the outside and meltingly soft inside. It was my first experience with goose, and a difficult one to live up to since.
I had little interest in the dessert menu when it came round, but as it was included in the lunch deal I ordered the Christmas pud, which was rich without being too heavy, and served with a yummy brandy butter.
It is testament to the quality of Eden that I remember this meal in so much detail nine months on.
When I'm paying this much for a meal I like to be able to linger, but Eden are currently offering a 2 course pre-theatre menu for €25, which is a decent saving on the a-la-carte. -
Review from Lisa H.
The experience didn't live up to the hype. The food was alright, not memorable. I generally recall everything I order but this was so lackluster I can't even remember what anyone of us ate. The margarita was excellent, I'll give me that.
