Best pub food we had in Clifden. The burger was excellent, as was the lamb shank. We came back again, emboldened by their sold performance and went a little more boldly into the menu: I had mussels, and my wife had a goat cheese salad. Both were excellent. The mussels were the best I had in Ireland: not overdone, fresh and flavorful.
The produce particularly impressed is. Anything that came with a salad went beyond dressed lettuce, adding microgreens, etc.
The room is everything you want from an Irish pub: big bar, rafters, fireplace, etc and service is on par for the type of joint (if you really want a beer, walk over and get it). The in-house musician played well, catering to our touristy desire for traditional Irish music.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David H.Toronto, Canada149514 Sept 2019
Stopped coming here years ago but gave it another chance; shouldn't have. Not very busy and they forgot to bring one of our orders. After we reminded them and finally got it, had to ask for cutlery five minutes later. Stood at the bar to ask for water while three staff walked by without acknowledging me. Took just as long to get our bill. Never again. Poor service!!!

Recently returned from a week in Clifden with family and our evenings at EJ Kings were by far the most memorable The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. We were a large group ranging in age from 4 to 60+ and all had a wonderful time listening to the band, singing and dancing into the night. Staff were friendly and attentive. At the end of one evening as we were taking a picture outside the manager, Pat, even turned the lights back on for better picture taking and took the picture for us so we could all be in it. Great band, great atmosphere, friendly staff, great fun...what more could you want? Go there. You won't be disappointed.

Unfortunately our least favorite meal in Ireland. We were bound to have one somewhere. 4 adults and 3 kids all voted and this place lost. Great location but food was bland tasteless shrimp, burnt over cooked burgers, only ok chowder, ham and cheese panini was good.

The food was very good and the vibe of the place is warm and inviting. My mussels seemed nearly bottomless and the creamy broth was to die for.
The had the standard Irish whiskers and beers and the modern acoustic guitar duo was lively and skilled. Overall, a great place for dinner and a pint.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brina S.Portland, United States4253115 Jun 2017

Great food, great bartenders, great servers and great music. Recently spent a few days in Clifden and can not say enough good things about this place. The food was fantastic (we ate there twice). Try the duck spring rolls. The service was amazing. Special shout outs to Clara and Kate who did a great job serving us both at the table and the bar. Pat the manager made a point to say hello and make sure we were all doing well. The music was fantastic! On Friday night we saw an amazing band from New Jersey named Jimmy and the Parrots. Saturday there was great music provided by a local group "The Michael Carey Band". Michael went out of his way to make sure everyone in EJ's was having a good time. This place has it all and I would definitely recommend it when you're in Clifden!

After traveling around Ireland, have to say the fish and chips are the best we had. The batter was light and delicious. Fish was very fresh and chips were great. Good service too.
