E.J. Kings Bar and Restaurant is famous for our pub food and has received the honour of being recommended in the famous Georgina Campbell's Ireland Guide 2008. We specialise in traditional Irish dishes such as Irish stew, fresh fish and chips in beer batter and Connemara mussels mariniére. Local seafood, lobster and oysters are available. Vegetarians catered for and children are welcome. Why not try our value dining menu? Enjoy a two course meal for €22.50 or three courses for €24.95.

History
Established in 1882
EJ Kings has always been a "lively spot". In 1882, police reports tell of a disturbance that broke out starting in John King's pub, before spilling out into the streets to be dealt with by the authorities.
John King passed the pub to his grandson, Edward Joseph. EJ was an entrepreneur and became the first local business man to install petrol pumps. He established Clifden Electric Light Power Works, the company responsible for bringing electricity to Clifden in 1925.
In 1843 the crowds gathered outside EJ Kings to hear Daniel O' Connell "Ireland Liberator" speak to a monster masse and protest for Tenants Rights.
It was on this corner during the War of Independence in 1921 that the IRA shot dead two constables in retaliation for the execution of a local man by British Forces. Tragically, the British Black and Tans shot dead an innocent civilian and burned down 14 houses.
Thankfully EJ Kings Bars & Restaurant is still lively but in an eminently happier fashion!
