Lots of options for a tasty and different burger. I wasn't a huge fan of the Irish beef, but that's not the restaurants fault, I think I'm not that used to it. Next time I'll def get the yummy looking lentil burger and play it safe. I want to go back again and try everything on the menu - it all sounded so good and fresh. The onion rings and fries were amazing too!

This place is good. Not so good I ever have a midnight "Oh my god, if I don't get GBK soon my head will explode" cravings, but good enough that if you are out and about and no one can decide where to eat and someone throws this suggestion out, most burger lovers will say "sure".
The portions are huge. I don't think I have ever finished one of their burgers. The dressing for the chips are top notch, I just wish they gave you more of them. And the service is fast and efficient. So all in all it is a pleasant burger joint and that isn't a bad thing. -

Before going on holiday I went for a burger to Gourmet Burger Kitchen. I was craving for a burger and... got a hell of a burger. Now let's talk about it !
What is it ? The idea for Gourmet Burger Kitchen originated in New Zealand. Over the last five years, the innovative New Zealand cuisine has extended to incorporate 'take away food' such as burgers. Where once the traditional burger was seen purely as a fast food option, gourmet burgers have knocked tradition on the head. Gourmet Burger Kitchen has created a nutritious sophisticated product using the best and freshest ingredients available.
What kind of burgers do they serve ? Let me list a few names : Classic (salad, mayonnaise & relish) : 6€, Cheese (aged cheddar, salad, mayonnaise & relish) : 7€, Cheese & bacon (bacon, aged cheddar, salad mayonnaise & relish) : 10€, Garlic & mayo (fresh garlic mayo, salad, mayonnaise & relish) : 7€, Pesteralla (pesto, mozarella, salad, mayonnaise & relish) : 9,75€, Cajun (smoked chilli mayo, salad & cajun relish) : 7,75€, and so on. From 6€ to 10€, you can select a wide range of burgers. My favourite is the Cheese burger. Even if you are really hungry, one Cheese burger is enough.
What else to they serve ? While you wait you can have : Onion rings : 3,50€, Grilled chicken kebobs : 4,50€, Marinated mixed olives : 2,50€, Spicy roasted broad beans : 2,50€, Breaded mushrooms : 3,50€, Cajun chicken pieces : 4,50€.
Any specials ? At Gourmet Burger Kitchen, they serve a selection of vegetarian meals such as : Falafel (homemade falafels with houmous, cucumber raita, fresh chilli saucec, salad & relish) : 7€, Puy lentil (puy lentils, potato, green curry, breadcrumbs, spring onion, salad, mayonnaise & relish) : 6€, Mushroom (feta, aged cheddar, pesto, rocket, mayonnaise & relish) : 10€, Aubergine & goats cheese (aubergine, goats cheese, sun-blushed tomatoes, mixed leaf salad, mayonnaise & relish) : 10€, and Veggie & camembert (portabello mushroom, aubergine, red pepper, sweet potato, camembert, mayonnaise, rockets & onion jam) : 10€.
Any other specialty ? Indeed : Chorizo (spicy spanish sausage, sweet potato, rocket, tomato, mayonnaise & relish) : 10€, Lamb (fresh lamb, homemade mint relish, mayonnaise & salad) : 9,50€, and Greek lamb (fresh lamb, humous, cucumber raita, fresh chilli sauca & salad) : 10€.
Anything else to add ? Gourmet Burger Kitchen also offers a range of salads and fresh chicken breast panko bread, whatever that means, I have never tried ! Anyway, service is always good and fast. Gourmet Burger Kitchen is the place to go when you want to go casual with quality food. I recommend it ! For more information, check this link : http://www.gbk.co.uk/
"This review has watered my whistles" says my best friends. To be honest, writing this description has got me hungry too. Let's run to the Gourmet Burger Kitchen ! XD -

Sorry guys, I'm going to have to jump on the "is that it?" bandwagon here. It was a burger (chicken/bacon/avocado), it was slightly above average in terms of taste, it arrived promptly enough, but after all the hype around this place I was left with a distinct emptiness.
Not displeased, rather slightly ambivalent unfortunately. It's no Jo Burger!
Also, the beer (a NZ beer called Mac's Gold) was truly horrendous! -

Was in here last weekend for brunch....best meals of the week....well at least the ones I look forward to most!
GBK was a major let-down... tasteless burger, with limp lettuce, tomato etc...
Other customers nearby were not happy either - especially the salad eaters!
The fries were good, but not enough to entice me back in....
A little overrated I fear! -

Oof, bit tough to review this place considering Jo' Burger is my local stop for a burger the size of a small child. But I think that food aside, the two places do fundamentally different things. GBK is far more family-orientated.
The last time I was there, they were more pre-occupied with the two children at a nearby table than anything else. Although this was more for the benefit of the other diners than anything else. Like a bomb, you don't want a bored child going off in a crowded restaurant. So they had the colouring books out for them, and kept them distracted.
The food is pretty good, with a nice variety on the menu. The only problem is that some burgers work better than others. The satay burger is a prime example. Satay-beef: gross. Satay-chicken: God's food. Some of the burgers are really different and delicious (like the Jamaican) and others are just the height of meh-ness (like the Mexican). It's a real mixed bag, but I suppose that's what you get trying to please everyone. -

There really is no end to the franchise opportunities in Dublin these days. Why else would something so amazing like GBK suddenly begin popping up like mushrooms practically anywhere there's room for a flame broiler and a few tables?
I'm in love with the flavour combos here, and have made Ladie's Lunch dates here more than once just to get a bowl of those crispy / fluffy chips.
The burgers (Yes, YES just €5 in the afternoons) are incredible -no other way to describe it. The service... varies from restaurant to restaurant. Still, this is the best place for a non-highstreet lunch that's well served and well priced!Listed in: Om Nom Nom

Look I don't want to sound like some kind of burger snob, but this place is a bit overrated. The fries are decent enough - nothing special - but the bacon cheeseburger I got was overcooked (came out medium well instead of medium rare) and was lacking flavor in the beef itself. I mean, it still tasted pretty good (it's not like it was a fast food burger or anything) but it's just nothing special.
2.5 stars, rounded up to 3 for bell curve purposes.Listed in: From Dublin to Doolin

I was so disappointed with this place. I'm a big burgers fan (as my other reviews indicate!) and was really looking forward to trying the new gbk (it only opened a few months ago.)
Now, in GBK's defence, maybe I ordered badly. I decided to go for the chicken burger with garlic mayo option and it was awful. Maybe I would've been safer with just the regular beef option, but these burger bars have so many options, you expect everything to be good!
The chicken burger was like a lump of chicken Maryland, with extra crispy breadcrumbs, deep fried and the garlic mayo was so strong I felt like I was swallowing a clove of garlic with each bite. Not only was mine bad, by my dinner guests thought their burgers were pretty horrendous too.
Now maybe I just caught them on a bad night, but I won't be going back anytime soon, if ever even. -

I generally like to avoid chains, especially in cities. There are so many excellent, independent options out there that I want to patronize and support and enjoy! However, we were on the hunt for a good burger and the menu did look pretty tempting and indeed gourmet. On top of that, the 5 euro burger offer was pretty much impossible to walk away from, so we went on in.
The menu is extensive, and you can get lots of different options from the mundane to the adventurous. I wanted something interesting, so I got the. Mexican. The food came out quickly and both the burger and chips were very large and I think two girls could easily share one plate. I bit into the burger and it was pretty darn delicious, indeed, rather gourmet. The patty was moist but thoroughly cooked (beware of pink ground beef, as lots of germs can be hidden in there. Yuck) and the toppings were plentiful. Everything tasted fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definitely come back again. -

Amazing burgers, sides, drinks. Service is always good, can be slow at times but you get what you wait for. personal favourite is the low-rise burgers, as some of them are just too big to eat like a proper burger. Then again, it does say Gourmet for a reason. the list of possible ingredients is great, the kiwi burger is certainly a welcome change to regular plain/cheese/bacon types. I couldn't finish without tipping the hat to the real reason i go there - the blue cheese dip for the fries. Amazing.

Im a huge fan of GBK, so therefore hugely biased but I think its the best gourmet burger place in Dublin. Great burger options (please try the Jamaican!) lovely chips, which come fried with skin and all, the way they should be, and of course a drinks menu! Only downside is the service isnt great, but it isnt so bad that you wouldnt go again, if you know what I mean.
Also doing any burger for €5 when you buy a side or drink too, with a voucher on http://www.mylunch.ie -

I have to disagree with what Kate said. Both times I've been to GBK I walked out the door thinking to myself 'I wanted a fancy burger...and I got a fancy burger'. Not only were my burgers fancy, but also delicious. The first time I went, I had a kind a greek lamb and houmus burger. Thumbs up there. Second time I got some variety of tex-mex burger. Thumbs up there too. Perhaps not quite as high as the first thumbs up, but a thumbs up nonetheless.
I did however have a bad experience in that we were squashed into a tiny little booth where my knees were jamming into the bottom of the tiny table and half way through our meal an overhead water pipe burst. Seriously. Soggy buns galore.
We were offered no compensation for this, just crammed into another tiny booth.
Admittedly, not everyone will have a drenching in GBK, and their burgers are exactly what they say on the tin, but I felt overlooked as a customer. So in short, good burgers, crap plumbing. -

I've been to GBK several times and to numerous locations and always left satisfied. For me it's simple, if I am in the mood for a good burger I go here. Simple setting, good burgers and usually good service. Didn't know about this lunch time offer, will have to get down there quick if it's still on. Had bad service once but overall usually v. good.
