Cafe on the corner, looking out onto the grand canal.
I love this part of the city, the theatre, quirky lights and the modern feeling that you have just stepped out of dublin.
This cafe are makiing beautiful cakes and delicious coffee...and made me a soy milk mocha with no moaning or hassle (rare, it seems!) and at good prices. Slice of cake 3.50 mocha medium 2.00 and they do gluten free deserts too!!
Staff were so friendly :)
You can buy fabulous cakes and bread here too.
They have a little sticker to say "People love us on Yelp" and yes, we do!! -

After a bad Espresso experience nearby , I was pleased to find somewhere that restored my faith in Dublin espressos and Italian food, served by staff who know how to treat customers. Much more pleasant and good enough value for money.
Near to the Grand Canal theater, though not sure if it opens late. -

It's my local and have been there a few times. It used to be great but the coffee quality has gone down and bit and the last time I had hot chocolate there it tasted like milk with a hint of chocolate. This place used to be great maybe it's just too popular now and they don't feel the need to try hard ? It is always busy on weekends so I suppose many people do like it. I certainly would not rate it more than a three unless something changes with their coffee and hot chocolate :-)

Just off the red-eye from the States and popped into Il Valentino. Wow. Great coffee. Great croissants. Great welcome to Dublin. I'll definitely be back.

Congrats to Owen Doorly "the owner" for the fantastic creation of one of the best bakeries in Ireland. i've been getting the different breads, cakes, and pastries in the last 2 years and all i can say is they're greeeeaat!!!.
everything is manufactured there with good quality ingredients and care.
The service is great, you will be well looked after by the staff and Owen himself wich is a treat to have the owner behind and on the top of things.
the display looks very yummy!!! and it has a good range of delicious breads with different fillings.
I recomend this bakery, i know well the ciabattas, muffins, pastries, baguettes, tomato bread, rye bread, Italian country bread, carrot cake and brown bread but I'm sure the rest are as good!!!
there you go...make a stop at Il Valentino for a nice treat... freshly baked!!! -

My boyfriend and I go to Il Valentino every Saturday and Sunday morning to read travel magazines and enjoy a perfect cappuccino. The debate is always between sweet or savory - depending on the offering that day, I usually get the raspberry scone with butter and jam, or a foccacia/pizza. Or sometimes both!
I'm equally fond of the almond croissants, and the Italian girl and guy who work there couldn't be nicer.
My only wish is that they would offer freshly squeezed OJ and little glasses of acqua frizzante, just like they do in Italy. -

Popped into Il Valentino today for the lunch and I highly recommend it. It's like a little bakery/patisserie/deli that offers muffins, pizza slices, sandwiches and all sorts of breads. Now I love bread - give it to me any day over chocolate - and the stuff their bread looks delicious. Lots of variety and all yummy.
I opted for a vegetarian pizza slice and it was yum. Really tasty, which was surprising seeing as though I don't really believe food should come served without meat! But it was great and I'll be heading back there very soon. -

This place has had the best write ups that I have seen of any bakery come coffee shop. So I ventured in for Yelp to see for myself.
Average sized place with the amazing surroundings of the Docklands at it's disposal.
The bread is out of this world, such a variety that is hard to find in Ireland, no doubt easier for the continental or major city dwelling folks. It's nice to know that we too have one in central Dublin.
I had a coffee and muffin there, a healthy muffin if that is possible. They just bake everything as naturally and as healthy as possible, divine! I got some Pane Pugliese bread to go, mouth is watering again at the thought of it. Just go and see for yourself, please! -

Amazing pasteries and cappuccino. As another reviewer said, the question is sweet or savory? I had tried ham & cheese croissant, pain au chocolat, scone, and the granola bar (though not all on the same day!!). All were delicious, in particular the croissant and pain. The espresso was good and the cappaccino was to die for.

A bit out of the way for me....but I reckon the walk there will justify future visits for the delicious food! It's in the Docklands area which is buzzing nowadays though so I really don't have an excuse not to trot along there.
Lovely guy behind the counter-just soooo friendly. I asked if they do take-away...he replied that I could have anything but the counter ;-) I took a cannoli type thing and kept it for later and just relaxed with a coffee. Strangely relaxed afternoon ambience for somewhere that probably gets a lot of office/business people in. Books and newspapers available if you just want to have a relaxed sit down. Very good coffee.
And the cannoli? Sublime. Perfect amount of sweetness wrapped in a feather-light pastry. So light, in fact, that you could almost convince yourself it was healthy or low calorie. Except that it was just too delicious.... -

The Italian owner of Il Valentino reputedly said he would only move to Ireland if he could set up a bakery.
Ok!
Il Valentino is gorgeous. Freshly baked bread, cakes, pastries, sandwiches and fresh coffees and tea are the best combination ever. They also promote good health here, so that chocolate brownies is really one of your food groups and it's very important that you eat it all.
Very artisan feel to everything, but you have to admit. It's A. Maz. Ing. -

Excellent bakery that makes Italian and continental style bread fresh, on the premises from scratch everyday.
The bread contains no enzymes, preservatives or additives and is doughy on the inside and crusty on the outside!
The Tuscan bread is my favourite and I use it to make bruschetta as they suggested and I am also I real big fan of their pastries, especially their fruit tarts, but please don't tell my Weight Watchers coach! -

The coffee shop itself is really lovely with nice pain au chocolats, but there is one woman who works there who is amazingly RUDE. All the other employees are quite lovely but it only takes one rude one to ruin my lovely afternoon in this cafe. I ordered two pastries and two coffees during my hour there, and the last cup of coffee I ordered to take away and then brought it back to my table to work on my computer for 5 minutes before leaving and the waitress came over and said that I should have ordered it for take-in instead. Seriously? I ordered two pastries and a coffee for take-in already and she hadn't acknowledged that. Once I order a coffee for take-away and intend on leaving within 5 minutes, she comes over to complain that I should've ordered for take-in because "it doesn't look nice for the other customers." I'm sorry that I'm not putting on a nice coffee shop show for the ONE other woman who's a patron in here at the moment, and I'm sorry for all the euros that I spent buying all your pastries and coffees during the past week to get this kind of snobbish treatment. I've never met such a rude inappreciative cafe worker before. She also cleared my espresso and croissant away before I even got a chance to finish them and dumped them before I even got a chance to protest. Who takes a half-eaten croissant away from a customer who is clearly still working on it? Considering I live above this coffee shop, I'll have to turn to Fresh market to get my croissants and espresso now. Sad, because I really liked this coffee shop.
