Great Pub Lunch here on a Sunday, had the Spit Roast chicken with Piri Piri. Followed by the sticky toffee pudding - also excellent. Friendly staff, and probably the most popular restaurant in Godalming.

This restaurant and inn is situated on the road between Milford and Godalming. It is part of the 'Innkeeper's Lodge' accommodation chain http://www.innkeeperslodge.com I haven't stayed there, so cannot comment on the accommodation but I have eaten there.

The restaurant is popular - always a good sign - and at weekends in particular, it is advisable to reserve a table. Extensive car parking is available in the grounds of the inn; and there is an attractive patio and garden area. Inside, the restaurant and bar are comfortable and stylish and the atmosphere is slightly upmarket while remaining family-friendly.

The menu is varied and interesting; as is the list of wines and cocktails. I enjoyed a swordfish steak with glazed vegetables, followed by a beautifully cooked bread-and-butter pudding with fruits in a toffee sauce with clotted cream. Everything was cooked to a high standard and presented well. Staff were attentive and cheerful but never intrusive.

The Inn on the Lake provides an entirely pleasant dining experience and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

      First to Review

I recently visited a friend who lives in the area and suggested this restaurant for a late summer lunch. Even on a Monday most of the outside tables were taken. Good selection of food served in lovely surroundings even though you can't see the lake that gives the place its name). I'll try and remember how to find it should I ever return to the area.
