Review from Mary C.
Are you looking for something silvery and shiny? Maybe you need an urn, a clock, a trophy, a knick-knack, or maybe just some jewelry? Might I suggest John J Cooke.
The store features a vast range of silver objects from the useful to the not so useful. And all of it gleamingly silver! Their jewelry is actually very nicely priced and they have some good stuff too. You can also get your name engraved in an ancient Irish language on a silver medallion, which I think is a rather nicer souvenir than some leprechaun hat with an attached ginger beard.
They also do silver and jewelry repairs and cleaning. -
Review from Bridget R.
Cooke's has been in the silver business since forever (actually, it opened the year my parents were born... so *cough* it's very very young), cleaning, fixing and dealing in the shiney stuff, plus taking commissions for League Cups you always see brawny GAA players hoisting over head.
As one of the oldest (youngest! sorry ma) residents in the area, it's funny how this place feels like a tourist trap -all smooth pendants and Ye Old Celtic-y designs mixing in with more surprising figurines and commemorative ware that seem tailor made for great stories back home. But Mary's right, the prices are fair and the stock makes for original keepsakes - better any day than the Guinness Mug and Magnet set you've been thinking of picking up during the shopping hour on your guided tour.
