Junkfunk is the place to go if you're looking for a gift for your hipster boyfriend, brother or nephew.

It's not exclusively for men but it tends to be men that go in there and look at the cool screen printed tee-shirts (everything from funny slogans to grafitti style designs), the limited edition posters and prints, the colourful Pantone mugs, the quirky stationary and greeting cards and the small but brilliant selection of hand-drawn comics and art books.

Like I said, it's a cool boys shop for cool boys.

I felt perhaps not funky enough to check out a shop called Junk Funk, but it turned out to be quite unassuming and filled with interesting clothes and gifts.

The women's clothing selection was pretty sparse, but the dresses, sweaters and t-shirts were of high quality, and reasonably priced.

Men's clothing racks also held casual clothes - tees and long sleeve shirts with a few pairs of jeans.

Gift ideas were quite unique - my favourite being an egg you crack and grow a plant out of. Can't say I've seen that before. Other offerings were mugs, recycled notebooks and some hilarious cards that I hung around for awhile to read.

Junk Funk is one of three or four gift/home decor shops within a small area just off the Laines, but whereas Retail Therapy (diagonally opposite) is more sixties bohemian, Junk Funk is very sleek and quirky modern, very design orientated. There is a real love of type and fonts evident in their stock- lots of screen printed clothing and images that use words and fonts highlighting the combination of nostalgia for more traditional design and contemporary colours, humour and cultural influences- the best examples of this are in their excellent limited edition prints and beautiful letter press cards. The prices range from a few pounds to much more- very good for a design aware but tongue in cheek present.

This uber cool lifestyle shop is chock full of desirable objets and has a definite Shoreditch feel to it. Lamps, cool t-shirts, beautiful mugs, postcards, prints, retro clocks, in fact the perfect place to come and find a present for a mate or a select piece of decoration to contemporize your flat.

This store is awesome! I lived in Brighton for quiet some time and never noticed it until I saw one of the best T-shirts ever!!It is located in the Northern Lanes.
They sell funky t-shirts, hoodies and all sorts of crazy things. The stuff is pretty funny. The store is small, so there arent loads of things there, but you can surely find something cool. They sell both men's&women's apparel. The clothing basically features all sorts of funny graphics. You can also check them out on their web page, however they've only put up a small amount of examples.
      Prices range from 20-60 pounds.
Like I said, the store is at an awkward location, therefore follow the map to find it!

This store is amazing - even though there is a great selection of t-shirt/lifestyle stores in Brighton, JunkFunk really stands out with a great selection of handpicked clothes and lifestyle products. Bought a great light up pink dog that now sits happily in my lounge getting loads of compliments,

although junkfunk is one of many, in my opinion its the best. they sell funny, cute original tshirts and stuff for everyone from toddlers to punks to old grandads. it can be quite expensive but you will not find a better range anywhere else.
