The best pint of Guinness in Dublin.  Beautiful pub that has hardly been touched since its birth.

I can't say I understand the fine details people are picking up from the Guinness pour they got at Kehoe's.  Pretty much every where I went they did the two part pour with lots of cascading bubbles.  Still, nice clean lines with fresh and tasty Guinness.

We were there on a Saturday night, even on the early side it was full but not uncomfortably packed.  Though it was a little on the loud side.  We didn't stick around long enough to really chat with some of the locals because it was just too loud, but that's not entirely unexpected on a Saturday night.  Good energy and nice space.  This really is a comfortable place to grab a pint.

This was where I was served my first pint of Guinness in Dublin. It was pretty awesome. I probably would say that about anywhere I had been, though? Who knows. At first I was a little meh about the crowd as it was a Saturday afternoon and mostly filled with middle-aged men, but everyone was friendly and the bartender was great. We sat in a cozy corner and. Drank. Anyways, a really cute place tucked back in a popular area but not as packed as some other pubs. Really enjoyed it!

I was told when I first came to Dublin that Guinness tasted different in some of the good pubs and I was also told this place poured a good one. I was skeptical to begin with until last night. I can confirm the Guinness tastes different and it was my best pint in Dublin to date. Will go back to this charming old pub anytime. It's a fabulous place :-))

Your usual Grafton area pub with all the bells and whistles.  I came here after finals, and it wasn't crowded so was a nice breadth of fresh air.

I do remember thinking they poured a good Guinness, and I was lucky enough to get a table outside.

A tiny place, but seams popular with the locals.

Popped in here today with my mate.

"Wow I have never been here before," I said as I smiled looking at the deep wood and smiling folks as the door swung shut keeping the Baltic breeze at bay.

    "Really?! Wow, that's shocking."

I sat with my whiskey and she sat with her Guinness as we chatted about love, Guinness, future, work, family etc.

"Excuse me hun, I need the loo - where is it?"

    "Up two flights of stairs."

    "Two flights?!"

Up I go the ancient carpeted stairs past the younger group upstairs and up again and then flashback... Aw yeah I was here before. Down I return after the loo.

"I take it back I was here before, had a flashback."

"When you looked at the couch in the loo - I'm sure it was a memorable flashback."

    "I am not a whore - bitch."

    "Uh huh."

I have to admit this is the first pub I have been to for ages and we did pop in here for a quick drink while we sat and chatted. Service was fast although I nearly ended up with a lager instead of a Lucozade (driving!) but there was room in the snug and that was ...snug.

nice pub and I would go again.

It's strange to think that just a few yards from the pedestrian hell of Grafton Street is this classic watering hole. And I mean watering hole in the National Geographic, David Attenborough-bothering sense. After work, people flock to Kehoes like hippos to an oasis.

Kehoes has a mix of people and the atmosphere is really great. It's cosy and old-fashioned inside,  and luckily they serve a great pint. Actually the bar-people deserve a bit of credit too, despite the throngs of people, they always keep the punters happy.

5-stars for their pint of Guinness.  I used to live in Dublin and this place is famous for having one of the best, if not, the best pint.

Also, Sinnotts Pub (King St, right off of Grafton near St Stephen's Green) pours a great pint.  I worked nights there in 2005---definitely the best pub to watch proper footie (soccer) and rugby matches (especially six nations!).  I give Sinnotts Pub 5-stars too---for pints and atmosphere!

Delightful classy little Dublin pub.  The Guinness was amazingly fresh and the barman was friendly as well.  Gets 4 stars for no food, but otherwise a brilliant little spot.

As a result of visiting Kehoe's (heaving with people on a Sunday night, if you must know) I have a new appreciation for the joy that is a properly poured pint of Guinness.

Next time I'll snuggle up in one of the tiny, curtained off areas at the side (where I'm told they used to hide thirsty women and their drinks, when it wasn't appropriate for them to be all out in the open with such habits.)

Visitors, take note: If you've come to Dublin for an authentically local experience, look no further than Kehoe's. Oh and, should you get the sense that the upstairs toilets are haunted you are probably correct.

    One word; institution.

Kehoe's, put simply, is the business. An old school pub with a brilliantly mixed crowd. The groundfloor can be packed from as early as 4:30 in the afternoon but if you're smart about it there's always a seat to be found. Ideally this would be in the snug, which is private, roomy and only 3 feet from the bar at all times. But if that's occupied you can always go upstairs and listen to the drunks dribble out notes on the piano.

Great Guinness, fantastic atmosphere and an absolute must if you find yourself on a pub crawl.

I'm giving it 5 Stars because I had the best pints of Guinness ever. What a tasty full bodied creamy  PINT! Nice scenery, very classic Victorian pub feel with a great mix of people. Gets more croweded as the sun goes down. The highlight of the pub is the old Publican's living room which has been turned into the uptstairs portion of the pub but has retained his living room esque . Apparently all Publican's usually lived upstairs of their pubs, what a lucky life. I found service to be great and with a bonus of personality.

    What a pub!

there it is nestled off grafton street among all the fancy new shop fronts and pubs that felt the need to refurbish every corner of their establishment to  justify their being off grafton.

Kehoes is not like these guys at all, it looks just like it diid a hundred years ago ( i imagine!) all the furniture looks ancient, the upstairs still looks like a sitting room and a bathroom and maybe that other room is a bedroom.

Downstairs my favourite place to sit is in the sbug, all behind glass adn wood with a wooden bench to sit on and a little hatch to talk to the barman through.

god the place sounds awful doesnt it? well youll just have to see for yourself, its a great pub with a great atmosphere and it doesnt need modernisation to do it!

Kehoe's always strikes me as the sort of pub that is positively afraid to change anything - lest it ruins the magic formula that attracts the thirsty masses.    This lack of change may well be a good thing but sometimes it can feel like an old dirty badly designed place.   Good atmosphere tho'.

This is a burly Dublin pub boasting all of the archetypal facets you would come to expect from an Irish tavern at the same time as, I'm happy to say, also priding itself on something more contemporaneous than most of these bucolic watering holes. Things in this pub are subtly done, with nothing alleged to have been inspired by 'the Ireland of long ago'. Whilst subtle references adorn the walls nothing about Kehoe's is overly submerged in legend or national pride at all and henceforth no superficial means of making money out of mythology and claiming it to embody candid national identity is put forward.

A chic smoking area on the 1st floor boasts impressive views of prominent rooftops in Dublin. This is a great milieu in which to enjoy a smoke within. The toilets embrace a much more boutique-esque feel, certainly more Continental in aesthetic in comparison to the Celtic motifs featured elsewhere. The drapery and upholstered rich purple velvet iron chairs definitely surprised me upon initial entry to the bathroom but subsequently made me admire the place more for deciding upon such sheer dissimilar design decisions that are successful in portraying the pub's more subversive side away from the classic Irish countrified feel.

I recently went to Kehoe's with my laptop to work in the quieter section downstairs. With a pint and toastie from the bar I couldn't have been more motivated to tackle some work. Whether it is for this reason or something more raucous you are after this great pub in the centre of town caters for your every prerequisite.

Stopped in midday for a quiet pint.  Great staff, classic layout and look and possesses one of Dublin's all-time greatest snugs. Grab your favorite person to snuggle with and go have a drink Kehoe's.

Kehoe's is one of Dublin's best pubs. With old school Irish pub décor it really is a place not to be missed. I would be shocked if you didn't have a great night here, particularly in the Summer.

The norm is to pre drink here after work or before a club at the weekend but I've spent many a night outside drinking on the street in this old style traditional pub til the early hours.

What's unique is that it caters to pretty much all ages and all kinds of people from all walks of life. You could easily go here on a night out with the girls, in a big group, or for a few pints with the lads.

One thing though - it is ALWAYS busy. So if you're looking for a quiet drink then maybe this isn't the place for you. But if you're up for great craic, meeting new people and thriving in a great atmosphere, then definitely Kehoe's on you're to-do list.

    Awesome!

I've read all about Kehoe's and it was one pub i wanted to go to on my trip to dublin.  The atmosphere is great, laid back and chill.  They have guinness on tap with bars both upstairs and down.  Gets really crowded inside and out on the patio.  Super friendly bar staff.  Have to grab a Guinness here, if you are in Dublin

Kehoes is one of Dublin's best pubs. They have done absolutely nothing to modernise the place, resulting in an atmospheric, cosy drinking hole that hints at the way things were. The original mahogany bar, complete with old-fashioned cash register and spotted aging mirrors, dates back from the days when the bar doubled up as a grocery shop. There are plenty of nooks and crannies here to while away the hours, though the place is usually packed to the gills from late afternoon onwards.

The upstairs has an old living room feel, open plan with a few tables and chairs, an old piano and ancient carpets and wallpaper.

The ladies bathrooms are beautifully old and shabby.

I love the place. It's such a pity that it's one of the last remaining, truly original pubs left in the city centre.

My favorite pub in Dublin.  Far enough away from Grafton and Temple Bar to escape all the touristy crap but close enough to those areas to get to.  The clientele were solid and the bar itself is just what you'd want an Irish pub in Dublin to be.  Try also Davy Byrnes and the Dawson Lounge in the area.  Davy's is more restaurant but a good place for food and Dawson is a good hole in the ground tiny pub to hit up.

probably my favourite pub in dublin, and always a tradition when i'm home from the states to go here on christmas eve for a few pints to be enjoyed inside the bar, as well as outside on the street (though sadly all my pals are now daddies in the suburbs and unable to make the trip into town to down beers when they're wrapping presents for santa).    lovely guinness and beamish stout*.   my last visit, this past dec 24th, it was the usual mob scene, so couldn't relax in one of the snugs, or really take in the old time ambience of the place.

years ago i sat beside shane macgowan of the pogues here, which i thought was kinda fun!

    * yes, i'm partial to the black stuff from cork - sacrilege as a dub!   i love murphy's, which i consider pepsi to guinness as coke, but prefer the smaller guy beamish, just like i love my rc cola.      really though, it is lovely - dryer than guinness (murphy's is the least dry of the three), and usually about 50 cent cheaper too for a pint, at around 4 euro.

Kehoe's is my favourite Dublin bar. I've been going there for years and it just can't be beaten. There are no gimmicks, no promotions etc. It is what it is - an honest to God, spit on the floor, great pub. It's particularly lovely for an afternoon pint, which of course is one of life's greatest pleasures!
The last time I was in there was the Saturday night of the weekend of the All Ireland football final and to say it was heaving is putting it mildly. The place was jam-packed beyond comprehension and it was all I could do to struggle to the bar, get the drinks and struggle back out to the outside area (the street literally - but it is pedestrianised) where they let you take you drinks. And it was even mobbed out there too! None of this stopped me and everyone else there having an utter ball!
In fact I have a theory that Kehoe's even attracts crowds on a Monday morning. And the fact that it does such a thriving business says it all really. People wouldn't be going there if it wasn't such a fantastic pub. The service is great and the Guinness is even greater and if it's atmosphere you're looking for, then it's right place to go. You are guaranteed to have a good time, believe me!
