Review from Patty G.
Fantastic ice cream and friendly service! They offered me a taste of all the different flavors. So sweet! Yes, the people but the ice cream was too!
I had the Honeycomb and the Chocolate Chip on one cone. They were both delicious and the Honeycomb was such a great flavor! Unique and very good!
I also loved the outdoor seating they have, beach chairs and tables. Super cute! -

I've stopped off in the Wicklow St shop a few times en-route to Stephen's Green, but today decided to give the Temple Bar shop a whirl.
The special of the day was Strawberry and Balsamic Vinegar... I asked for a test-spoon (yes, they're really nice in that they give you a sample of whatever you'd like to try before you buy, nice touch!).
It was gorgeous!! The strawberry was sweet and creamy and rich and the vinegar cut through it with a slight hint of sourness, nom!!
My boyfriend had a milkshake - brown bread and vinegar... again, delish, though I think I'll try the brown bread and strawberry next time.
The weather was beautiful today too, and the jaunty blue and white striped deck-chairs outside were a cute way to chill out and listen to a great guitarist/busker who was playing opposite.
Honestly, it felt like we were on holidays, but we were 10 minutes from home!
A fiver for a medium cup of ice-cream sounds expensive, but the whole package was totally worth it, will definitely be back to the Temple Bar branch when the sun re-appears. -

I always make a trip to this little gem in the heart of temple bar, no matter what the weather! The staff I've encountered have always been brilliant, offering samples and therefore proffering me to experiment with new flavours, such as the brown bread and salt ice cream. Whenever I have friends visiting the city, this is one of the first places I bring them.
Perfect location in sunny weather, with the little seats out front, so you can eat your carton of ice cream and watch the world go by. Or banter with the lovely servers. -

Friendliest staff I have encountered in ages!
They offered me a taste of flavours even though I'd already ordered. (rasberry sorbet and dark chocolate) it was through this kind gesture that I truly unveiled the beauty of this little place.
1. Guinness ice-cream. I'll try anything once and I do love Guinness anyway, but this surpassed all my expectations. Delish!
2. Sea salt! Amazing, vanilla, choco bits with cookie chinks and the unmissable hit of a small sea salt crystal.
'he gets the salt himself from the sea in Dingle' - I'm told. Amazing!
'he' must be Mr. Murphy.
It's where haagen daas used to be. Only been there a week or so. The decor is simple and fresh. Brought so much joy to my sweaty sunday.
PLUS it's Irish...
I'm defo gonna be a regular there! -

I wanted to come in to check if they had frozen yogurt (class project) and the hours on their website say 12pm-10pm Monday-Sunday but they were not open at 1pm....

Dublin
Murphy's Ice Cream finally arrived in Dublin. I was thinking of a trip to Dingle just to check it out after all I read about it in magazines etc, but that's not necessary anymore.
Finally I got to try Murphy's one of these weekends in Temple Bar and the first thing which strikes you is that they are really really friendly. You can give any or all of their flavours a taste before you decide and they don't rush you through, even if it's getting busy. Their most "interesting" flavours might be the Guinness, the sea salt or the brown bread ice-cream. I have to say while it was very tasty, nothing blew me away though - maybe I had too high expectations (I don't even know what), but it's just tasty ice-cream, nothing more. In general I think the portions are overpriced, but so is ice-cream in Ireland, so I can't vote them down for that.
Back to the friendliness, that did blow me away. A guy next to me ordered an espresso and got it with the comment that "he can taste it if he's willing to pay for it" as they didn't have their Gaggia machine fine-tuned yet. That's the kind of customer service I expect in the countryside more than in Temple Bar for sure!
One pain point is that they opened just a few doors down from my favourite gelato spot in Dublin, Boticelli. Now if I feel like something cold when wondering through Temple Bar I don't know what to get anymore.
Any maybe I should still go to Dingle anyway! -

Back again this weekend to give the Salt flavour a go. Definitely worth it, and makes a great combo with the burnt caramel flavour.
