This is a great school. My daughter has been with them for over 8 years now. Their instructors are very skilled and love to teach. They are my daughter's good friends. I have been constantly surprised by my daughter's improvement in piano. I also like the atmosphere in the academy. They have lots of social activities and stage performances in libraries, churches and nursing homes. Those are very helpful for kids to develop their performance skills on stage. Strongly recommended.

I have been taking piano lessons at the Music & Dance Academy for over eight years and look forward to many more. My personal experience with the Academy is excellent. The owner is a highly trained pianist and amazing teacher overall. She challenges her students and staff to equally excel with exceptional patience and seasoned guidance.
Piano lessons at the Music & Dance Academy have enhanced my quality of life in many ways. My focus and ability to concentrate on complex material has dramatically improved from day one. Music lessons have increased my ability to focus while improving my dexterity. After practicing piano, I always feel more relaxed and proud of my accomplishments. There is no question, it's such a positive addition to your life.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 383913307028 Aug 2013First to Review
This is a simple storefront with a lobby, four music rooms, a large dance studio, and an additional studio for aerobics & yoga with gymnastic mats on the floor. I take my three and half year old granddaughter here for Angelina Ballerina dance classes. Miss Marion, her instructor, is very experienced and a pleasure to work with. The kids, eight in her class, just love her. They have a camera in the studio so you can watch the kids dancing on a large screen TV. The cost is reasonable for a 45 minute session each week for a whole school year. There will be a recital at the end of the year. The receptionist is very friendly and helpful. We are completely satisfied, so far, with everything. Our granddaughter loves coming here and looks forward to dance class each week.
We may take a music class too in the next couple of weeks. A basic music course for the 4-5 yr olds is some keyboards, some singing, and some other stuff.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jenn B.Tucson, United States0124 Dec 2017
Wonderful teachers. My daughter looks forward to going to both of her classes each week. The classes have helped her confidence. I highly recommend any child taking lessons.

My daughter has been taking guitar lessons for over 2 years. She started when she was 5 years old. Her instructors name is Michael and he's been working with kids forever. My daughter went from simple single string pluck songs to complex multi string pieces in no time. Her instructor makes playing in front of audiences a priority, which has helped her self-confidence and her ability to perform. The prices are very reasonable. I don't know about everyone, but when I pay for lessons I want to see results. I want to see noticeable improvement in my child's ability to play the instrument. If that's what you're after, this is the place!

My family has been with the Music and Dance Academy for close to five years now, and it is easy to envision that we'll be there for at least another five. The office staff is friendly and professional, and the teachers are highly qualified and experienced. My wife is taking classical guitar lessons, and my son started piano under the Suzuki method when he was six years old (with me as the designated parent). It has been our experience that the instructors are quite competent at tailoring the lessons to the individual student, whether child or adult. For example, from the beginning, my son's instructor supplemented the Suzuki material with regular sight-reading and basic theory-building activities, which has given him a solid musical foundation. Now almost eleven, my son has significantly developed his ability to play the keyboard - with feeling and with appropriate technique. And his memory is now pretty sharp, too, which helps him quite a bit at school. And it hasn't taken any herculean effort - just a modest amount of daily practice. Thanks to our positive experience at the Music and Dance Academy, music is as much a part of our daily life as is reading. --Paul B.

When he finished kindergarten, we decided it was time to add music to his regular activities. So, we started looking for an instructor. We were open to both private instructors and those associated with music schools. Our guiding principle was simple: more than anything else, the quality of the instructor would affect the chances of our son embracing music as a part of his life. So we spent the summer inquiring and searching for such a person.
The Tucson Music and Dance Academy made our list of finalists. We liked that their diverse staff was professionally-trained, and that they tailored their approach to the student's age and ability. And we also appreciated how they engaged us up-front as parents, getting us to think more about our role in helping our son find the joy of practicing. It was an additional bonus to find that the Academy offers enrichment activities periodically throughout the year, such as Parent Forums on incentivizing children, goal setting for young children, and other relevant workshops.
We signed up for the Suzuki Program, which included their short Parent Education Class, followed by the opportunity to sit in on other student's private lessons. Not only did this help us make an informed decision on which instrument to pursue, but also gave us an opportunity to see different instructors "in action." We chose the piano and an instructor who seemingly had as much talent in dealing with the silliness of young children as he did with the keys of the piano (he plays beautifully!). And, though we had to wait awhile for our chosen instructor to become available, we have never regretted our decision.
That was two and a half years ago. Since then, our son has developed a self-confidence and an ability to focus that is enriching other aspects of his life (and ours, too!). He has performed in public at numerous recitals, some of which have had a community-service aspect (e.g. bringing music to the shut-ins of assisted living facilities). And he's not as shy as he used to be.
Music is now part of daily life in our home, and our son now thinks of himself as a piano player. So far, so good. And I'm also happy to find that he's starting to understand the phrase: music can sooth. Couldn't be happier with the Tucson Music and Dance Academy!
