Neptunes Hostel saved my sanity and my wallet! I was stuck, unexpectedly, in Ireland without a place to stay for a few days around St. Patrick's Day, which is pretty much a nightmare. I almost ended up heading to Amsterdam for a few days, just to have a bed to sleep on, but on a fluke, I took a bus to Killarney in hopes of finding something affordable and a decent place to stay.
Neptunes was fantastic! It exceeded every non-expectation that I had. I met so many awesome people during my stay here, and fell in love with Killarney itself. It was a good, clean, friendly, and extremely affordable place to stay. They have free internet, a good kitchen, and an okay breakfast. The bathrooms were fine, but a little on the chilly side. The location is perfect, it's tucked away on a back street, so you don't get too much noise coming in from the outside. Of course, given the size of the main part of town, you're never too far away from anything. Within walking distance to pubs, restaurants, Muckross House, and the bus station. You can also rent bikes, take a hike to Aghadoe, and arrange bus tours around the Ring of Kerry, and other Kerry sites. Highly recommended!! -

I cannot say enough good things about this hostel! It was fantastic! it's a 10 min walk from the bus station. it wasnt too difficult to find. the man at reception was extremely friendly and helpful and really laid back. we decided to stay another night beyond our 1 night instead of going on to tralee d/t the quiet and convience of this hostel. internet is free! woo-hoo! the kitchen was great and open to guests to use. the tv room was decent... cold for awhile until the fireplace finally warmed up the room a few hrs later but the use of your blanket from your rm helped. the water pressure and the temp of the shower is great. the lack of rm to place your shower stuff is a downfall though. the rm was decent and they provide towels. it was a great hostel experience. one of my favs! and i've been to a lot of the yrs.

I stayed there back in '07 November. All I remember is having no complaints, great location, and nice people. I liked staying at Neptunes, and loved Killarney. One of our nights there, we meet some people staying there too, had some Guinness out on the tables, and had fun times. Overall, good stay.
