Review from Matt S.
It's been awhile since I ate here, but when I was there last the food was excellant. The place was packed. The waitstaff was attentive. Our group enjoyed the food immensely.
Upstairs was dark, the brown bread and butter was awesome. Dinner was great as was the pints! -

After wandering around the Temple Bar area of Dublin, I came across Quays Bar. It was just in time for a bite of lunch and a pint of Guinness.
Before even walking into this locale, the outside of this classic Irish pub draws you in with the gold and green painted wooden exterior, large windows and the wooden and brass revolving door.
Like most of the pubs in Ireland, you walk into the bar area and the dining is done upstairs. Now you can get your pub grub served to you on the first floor, but the tables are much bigger and enjoyable on the second floor.
The Quays restaurant area upstairs is very similar to the ground floor. The decor includes an abundance of dark wooden floors, walls, tables and chairs. It is truly the quintessential Irish pub look.
I was able to snatch a window seat and get a great view of Temple Bar Square. The menu includes all of the usual suspects that you come to expect when dining at a pub. That includes bangers and mash, fish and chips, kidney pie and more. I opted for a burger with a Guinness.
The staff made our dining (and drinking) experience one to remember. They were all had that quick Irish wit and were very friendly.
Quays Bar is a great way to spend a few hours with friends, food, drinks and views. -

Dublin
I was sorry I walked through the doors of this place. A typical tourist trap Temple Bar establishment which they cram to the seams and horse beers over the bar as quickly as possible. This pub is all about making money and nothing else. The staff barely look at you, they're so busy gushing out booze as if their life depends on it and the manager.........best shut up now.
Put it this way....NEVER again -

Dublin
In Temple Bar square, the Quays Bar remains a popular destination for Dublin tourists and new residents. It draws a steady crowd because throughout the afternoon, musicians take the stage (conveniently placed in the window of the pub).
I go here sometimes because the music is good and there's good craic. Simon Gynn, a singer and guitarist, plays throughout the week. His good looks and charm keep many customers entertained.
Alternatively, the Quays also doubles as a sports' bar. You can catch all major sporting events on their flat screen TV.
This pub is not the most authentic Irish bar, but it's a safe bet. The Guinness is tasty and the customers are interested in making new friends. -

Had a lovely evening here drinking with a group of tourists from Liverpool. In fact, it became more of a contest of how much Guinness you could drink while still being able to have a coherent conversation about football.
I remember the pints being a bit spendy, but when every other one is being purchased by someone else, it all becomes a bit hazy. -

a ton of places to eat in the temple bar area...and it can be quite overwhelming...after walking up and down the main drag multiple times, bf and i ended up at this place...a second floor, cozy, irish bar/restaurant with pretty great irish fare!
although the euros translates most meals into rather expensive for the dollar, we enjoyed our dinner including really awesome bacon and onion boxty, seafood chowder + mussels and bangers and mash! -

A lovely place to settle in for a pint, even if it is amongst the tourists.
Serving up a great pint of Guinness, the bar staff is great and is attentive enough that I don't think I ever had an empty when I was sitting at the bar.
The decor is traditional pub, which is I suppose why the tourists love it so. It gets quite crowded, so make sure and time your pub time well.Listed in: Dubliner

Great place to head if you're struggling to achieve your 'one-a-day Irish-American tourist' targets. Personally I love those guys, here because their parents, grandparents or great-grandparents hail from the Emerald Isle, and kicking themselves because they haven't experienced the craic sooner (and gosh, I can't talk myself...)
So what you'll get at The Quays is not your authentic Irish pub experience, it's more of a 'tourists experiencing an Irish pub' experience, but the crowds are good, the craic is mighty, and the live music is rocking.
Head here at any time of the day or night (but it gets mega packed in the evenings, so don't plan on moving once you get inside!) The great locale in the centre of Temple Bar means The Quays will always attract its fair share of customers, and will always hold the possibility of interesting conversations with soon-to-be best friends! -

While out on the drink last night we decided to call over to the Quays for a few scoops. I have been here many times, and it is not the worst spot to have a few in Temple Bar. I personally would avoid the place in the summer or on weekends - as others have pointed out it is a bit of a tourist trap and gets jammers after 8 PM and all day on weekends. It wasn't bad at all on the Wednesday and the price of drink is what you pay pretty much everywhere else in Temple Bar - expensive but the same at all pubs in the area. The bartenders are polite and the staff is also very nice. They always have live music going at night, something that I always enjoy. That being said it must be noted that some bands are much better than others. On the night in question the lads who were playing didn't know the words to Sean South, which was a point of contention with the people in our group. If you are going to bill yourself as an Irish Ballads band, make sure you know your Irish Ballads. But a great time was still had by all, even with the lack of musical knowledge on behalf of the band.
Seriously? No Sean South?Listed in: My Dublin Pub/Club Reviews

When I was in Dublin, I frequented this pub more than any of the other pubs in Temple Bar. This place was great craic! Yes, it is a tourist trap, but there were plenty of locals to be found. The bar men were super friendly, and music was entertaining.
