This is my local tennis club and I feel it is worth a mention on this website. It was actaully voted Leinster mid-size Club of the Year 2005, and was runner up in 2006.
I've been a member since I was about five years old. I started off having beginners lessons with my school friends. The club is very accomodating for younger ones, and the club coach Kieran is on hand to develop their interest. He takes the tennis lessons in a fun manner, not just pushing the kids to get the serve perfect, but developing their overall athletic ability, involving fun and games. Summer camps are held in the months of July and August. These are great fun, with water fights, rounders and more. All-day tennis is just too much for kids.
For teenagers there are social competitions in a round robin format in summer and winter. These allow everyone to get to know each other, while having a friendly competition. There are also teams and the coaches work hard with the people who want to seriously pursue tennis.
For adults there are teams to join. They play in leagues. There are also social evenings, with pizza afterwards.
The courts are open all the time so members can play when they like (competitively or friendly!). One of the great things is that non-members can pay a small fee and then are free to play a game.
There is something for everyone at this club.
