Pros: Situated just outside Ammanford on the edge of the Black Mountains. This is an excellent place for a nice quiet evening. The food is up to a reasonable standard and the menu is pretty standard pub fare with the usual grills, a few pasta and curry dishes.
Sit outside and take in some great views.
Cons: As it's off the beaten track either someone has to drive or it's a very expensive taxi trip.
The decor could do with freshening up snd sitting outside hasn't been the same since the smoking ban as you have to look at the view through a cigarette smog - but that's the price of having the inside as fresh as a daisy!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Virginia C.Tairgwaith, United Kingdom11919 Sept 2012First to Review
I have been here several times and always had a good meal. The last time was with the family, 9 kids and 6 adults. Everyone enjoyed their meal no one had to wait for their meal despite it being a busy evening. The views are spectacular around the Amman Valley, day or night the views are great. It may be a bit of a climb but its well worth it. A family run pub with a family atmosphere. There is also a salad bar so you can snack while you wait. although no one did on our family meal, we have on previous occasions had a 'free' starter.
Just a note to say on the Google map the red marker is in the wrong place. Follow Masequare road down the page where it goes yellow all the way and you will find 'the Scotch Pine' is signposted on the map When actually driving there it is at the top of the mountain, hence the great views The road itself continues over the mountain.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Qype User (steep…)Llanelli, United Kingdom108915 Nov 2008
The Scotch Pine is a nice place for a quick pub meal. There aren't that many choices on the menu and I feel that they are slightly over priced but the food is good and the staff are nice. The place itself could do with a refurb as the decor is outdated but when you have the views that are available from the windows, right across the mountains, who cares about the wallpaper!
