Review from Felix F.
if there is a single reason for weight gain in Dublin, it would be Shakes. Using an almost Dionysian concept (real chocolate bars smashed and whirled into ice cream)
their shakes make for an addictive treat that keeps you coming back again and again- I've already filled up two stamp cards!
The serving sizes are big even for American tastes, which means the place is overkill for dessert, but just right for the unhealthiest brunch ever.
The place is staffed by a pretty diverse cadre of ladies, which makes the whole thing a bit more absurd. Its hole-in-the-wall location means seating is at premium, but hey, you need to burn those calories off somehow. Once I dropped my shake before I had the chance to take a sip, and they made me another one, no charge! The single tear rolling down my emaciated cheek probably helped, but still, great service.
Personal recommendation: splurge on the Al-cappucino, it's so good you won't even notice the cement shoes that it gives you! -

Hands-down, the most delicious milkshake I have ever tasted in the entirety of my life. The menu is massive, ranging from simple milkshakes featuring one candy, to deliciously complex masterpieces.
Impeccable. Impeccable. Impeccable. -

what have you done to me? A shake bar right beside my bus stop! And now a handy helpful screen thing from Dublin bus telling me how long it will be until the next bus... I don't know why they bother with minutes when they could just say "enough time for you to nip into Shakes". You're all b@stards conspiring against me!
So what's this oreo one everyone's talking about... must try that the next time my bus is due in 4 minutes or more! -

Dublin
I've been here time and time again recently due to it being nice out and the shakes are delicious. They use fro yo (frozen yoghurt) instead of regular ice cream, so its a bit healthier--but that's of no help when you get 'oreo madness' or 'chocoholic' like I do!
Never a long line when I've been and it does not take them a long time to make the shake.Listed in: Dublin Eateries, Dublin Shakes it

Every once in a while it's nice to be reminded of just how much humankind has achieved in its history on this planet. Spotting the Milkshake Bar sign was one of those moments.
The place is small and busy, so you have to navigate your first steps carefully and not let it overwhelm you. Start with a visual of the candy lined up along the wall...pick out your favorites or re-live a memory.
With the atmosphere absorbed, you can then move on to the menu and its nearly endless selection. Don't worry, you won't go wrong (except, perhaps, by wanting to order something healthy).
Lion Bars have been my treat of choice when traveling in Europe, and a frequent indulgence now that I live here. So, that was the natural first round for me. The candy bits tasted even better than usual wrapped in soft-serve ice cream and milk.
The regular size was perfect for a filling snack, and the prices are decent as well. -

My milk shake brings all the boys to the yard,
and they're like,
its better than yours,
damn right its better than yours,
I can teach you,
but I have to charge
.....
That went through my head while I was ordering a non-dairy Oreo milkshake!
LOVED IT! -

Still licking my lips for a peanut butter / chocolate concoction, I'm keeping the star count and just adding a reference for all those readers wondering just WHO Bobcat Goldthwaite is, and what movie could possibly tie in with milkshakes:

Dublin
Queue straight to the door- not hard to do in such a tiny location.
Dude delivering supplies right along the same path the queue took (again, there wasn't really anywhere else for the queuers to be).
Two or three-minute wait, growing more impatient... 3 quid for a standard shake plus 80c for an extra add-in... starting to doubt my choice of fillings...
Oreo-banana milkshake delivered. All worries silenced.
Seats for about five, soft-serve ice cream + milk in the shakes, and walls stocked with trays of sweeties. You could not ask for anything more from such a tiny place. Also, a 10% student discount. The next time I want to cheat on my diet, this is my go-to. Slurp!Listed in: Studying on the Cheap

Dublin
You have to see this to believe it. A new premises open under the slogan "Dublin's first milkshake bar" has opened on Dame Street and by God, is it good!! This franchise has over 150 different flavoured milkshakes made with sweets, fruit, cereals, chocolate bars, biscuits....all sorts!
After joining the queue (that was literally out the door), I was torn between a Moro shake, a double decker shake or a white kinder bueno shake. Had to go with the kinder in the end. Have to say it was cold, sloppy heaven. Even if you just pop by to pick up a shake list, you'll be hugely impresssed with the variety.
There was also a poster advertising 11pm closing thur, friday and saturday. For a fifteen grand franchise, these guys are destined to do well.
Anybody on a diet who tries to walk past this place.....good luck! -

This is cozy and small location but the shakes are great. I should see if they have a milkshake bar like this in NYC. They had many choices. The people were friendly and prices were decent 2.99 euros for a regular size shake, extra for any extras of course. Nice spot!!
