This was our first stop in Aberdeen. It was definitely a unique place to go. It was darker inside with candlelight which made the stained glass stand out. The drinks were well mixed, not too strong, not too weak. I would definitely go back.

Soul Bar is a church that was converted into a bar and casino. All kinds of wrong...
It's a really interesting concept, but I'm not sure if it was executed properly. The church mosaic windows and intricately carved walls were beautiful. But all of that was ruined by a gaudy, neon-lit bar smack dab in the middle. They could have incorporated the bar a bit better, maybe something more rustic to blend in with the church.
Drinks were ordinary. I had 2x elderflower cocktails and a creamy, teal-colored shot that reminded of Cheers Shot Bar on 6th Street in Austin, TX.
It was pretty dead on a Monday night. Probably would recommend coming on the weekends if you want a lively crowd.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Tomek B.Mokotów, Poland21321 May 2018
As others say it's a church converted to a bar/pub. One may like our not, it's personal. IMHO the place has atmosphere and is one of better places in aberdeen. And they have delicious fish&chips :)

Soul is really different to your usual bar. It was once a church, and all the stained glass windows and stone-work is still in place, which makes it really stand out from the other bars in the city. It is a really big space with rooms going off to the back, so it never gets too busy. The decor is really nice (but very dark) and trendy, they've worked well with the original designs and added personal touches, such as a DJ booth in pulpit.
I was disappointed with their wine - it was really quite warm. Warm wine offends me. Their food is delicious, however. I can highly recommend the duck wrap and chicken caesar salad - yummy.
I always come back to Soul when I'm in Aberdeen, because I know it's a winner.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gareth O.Oslo, Norway56225 Sept 2012
Over priced, pretentious and takes forever to get served. The staff are too busy throwing bottles and glasses about trying to look cool instead of just getting the drinks made. Avoid.

This is probably one of the most popular and largest bars in Aberdeen.
It is very central on Union St and is busy every night of the week.
The prices for drinks are up their with the most expensive in Aberdeen so you will find that it can be filled with oil-industry workers with plenty of cash to splash.
On a Friday or Saturday night you will get the trendy 20 somethings coming down for a drink and possibly a boogie - there is a DJ usually spinning some excellent, funky tunes in the pulpit. Oh, thats because its a converted church.
The food is OK, menu is varied mix of cuisines so theres usually something to suit.
If, you havent spent all your money on drinks then you can go upstairs after (different entrance though) and blow the rest of it in the Soul casino.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
