About the Business
Confiserie Sprüngli is one of the most renowned confectioneries in Europe and, as a passionate chocolatier, is one of the pioneers of Swiss chocolate. In addition to pralines and truffles, the legendary Luxemburgerli, small macarons, are also very popular. Zurich's Paradeplatz is home to Sprüngli's historic headquarters and with it the oldest retail shop, the nostalgic Café & Restaurant on the first floor and the Café Bar and Boulevard Café on the ground floor. Here, gourmets can enjoy delicious breakfast, brunch, light lunch and exquisite pastries and coffee culture.

We visited this restaurant on our first day in Zurich after walking around Bahnhofstrasse. On the first floor is a chocolate shop with a small coffee shop next door. We were seated at the restaurant on the second floor very quickly despite the busy time.
We got soup of the day which tasted like tomato and crème. It was nice to enjoy the warm soup on a cold day. We also got a Sprungli Caramelito which was a nice mix of hot chocolate and espresso. They have very large selection of coffee, chocolate drink, teas and wines.
It's a busy coffee shop but the service was fast. We got to enjoy the street view and the credit suisse building. Highly recommend this cute restaurant for a quick coffee stop.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3 Apr 2024
I ended up getting the hot chocolate without the cream. It was yummy. I also got some chocolates as gifts. I have not tried them but the presentation looks great . If they are as good as the hot chocolate, they will probably be amazing as well.

I came to see if this chocolatier is good and no doubt about it. Love the place and especially the smell of chocolat. Tried out their mini size rose macarons and it's perfect. So I bought 4 of them to share with my family. The service is super great and friendly. Love it here. Definitely recommend this place even if it's a bit pricey.

Came to Switzerland and this is the first place I go for a taste of the famous Swiss chocolate.. albeit in cake form. It was pretty delicious, but comparable to bake shops in New York. I actually thought the fruitier selection was more fitting for my palette. Some of the absolute BEST tarts I've ever had! And the macceroons were yummy on another level. Looking forward to trying more variety on my next trip.

Yelp Review 2023 #23:
My favorite Swiss chocolatier. This location is easy to get to via tram. This is absolute chocolate heaven! They have chocolate in different forms: truffles, cakes, spreads, ice cream, and drinks. I've been to this location multiple times while I was in Zürich. To have breakfast, to get myself a whole Sprüngli cake to eat by myself, to buy chocolates and Luxemburgerli to give to friends and family (and also for myself).
Luxemburgerli:
Luxemburgerli are mini macarons in different flavors: chocolate, vanilla, caramel, champagne, raspberry, and seasonal flavors. At the time of my visits, their seasonal flavors were strawberry rhubarb, and Black Forest. They travel well because the packaging is genius and can withstand tram rides, a transatlantic flight, and a car ride home! 5/5
Sprüngli Gateau:
Chocolate sponge cake filled with praline buttercream on a japonais base, decorated with ganache rosettes and caramelized hazelnuts. Usually eaten by 4 people or 1 of me. I've eaten this by myself without guilt nor shame. It's the type of cake you would not want to share. 5/5
Mango Lassi:
I grabbed a few bottles of mango lassi because why not? It may seem sus for a Swiss chocolatier to have mango lassi but it's actually quite good. 5/5
Matterhorn:
Vanilla sponge cake with hazelnut cream filling covered in chocolate. 4/5
Truffle Slice:
Chocolate sponge cake with a truffle filling made from dark Swiss chocolate and fresh cream. This is rich but not sweet and small enough to make you want more. 5/5
Sunday Brunch:
If you're in Zurich on a Sunday, you might as well try Sprüngli's brunch. You get eggs, deli meats, lox, orange juice, and add hot chocolate. It's a nice spread. 5/5
They have sandwiches, quiche, and other savory items if you don't have a sweet tooth.Helpful 6Thanks 1Love this 6Oh no 0 - 173682367715 May 2023
Always a safe destination - regardless whether for a full brunch with super delicious Birchermuesli and Gipfeli etc in classical ambiance, or a small lunch, or a coffee with a sweet dessert. Service a bit sparse but when around very attentive. Lovely Nidel-Tuertli, but obviously, Spruengli is world-famous for its Luxemburgerli - often copied, never matched.

Walked past this chocolate shop and had to stop in! When in Switzerland!
From the second that we walked in, we were immediately hit with the wonderful aroma of chocolate! There were a plethora of chocolate options and macaroons. There were some chocolates that it was clear what they were, others were not. Some of the signs had English on them, but not all. However, that was not an issue because the staff was very friendly and answered all of our questions! We walked away with a mix of chocolates with different flavors/filings. It was hard to have self-control. Once paid for, we immediately tried two pieces of chocolate!
Highly recommend!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 30 Jul 2022
If you want to experience the elegance of Switzerland plus the amazing taste of the swish chocolate, in one place; then you must visit the Sprüngli store.
I tried it, and it was so good, I came back again; for myself and to buy presents for friends and family.
The selection is very large, and everything I tried was simply amazing. The service is 1st class, if not even better. The staff even wears an elegant uniform.
The entire experience was amazing.
They have more than one location in Zurich. This one am reviewing is a larger location with many more selections.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Food C.Somerset, United States11587120 Aug 2023
It's a must visit spot when you are in Zurich or just Switzerland in general. Their products can be found at the airport as well, so you can't miss it. The restaurant experience is great. People mostly prefer the buffet, but we decided to order breakfast set instead. They open Sunday which not all restaurants do that in Switzerland. If you do not have reservations, just show up as soon as they opened in the morning.
Highly recommended and I will definitely visit again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 15 Jul 2023
Guys I was disappointed by the flavors!! This is a beautiful chocolate shop in Zurich but I ordered three different truffles and 1 raspberry white chocolate almond cluster as well as two of their take on macarons (pistachio, lemon) and I am sad to report they were all really bad in my opinion. The macarons were almost the taste of Crisco, and they were hard and crumbly instead of chewy. The chocolates were also not as good as I expected, and coming from a visit to Geneva, I found much better chocolate shops there so my expectations were high. Definitely buy 1 or 2 to start before you spend a lot of money on something you might not like. The place was really busy. There is also a cafe next door but you can skip that line and come right into the store if you just want to buy chocolate. Wish they had better descriptions of their chocolates as well, but staff was helpful. They have a lot of chocolate boxes and bars and gift sets if you want to bring something home, but they are quite expensive (most in the 30-50 CHF range)!
