I ordered the bacon double cheeseburger with fries, thinking a hotel restaurant couldn't mess it up. I was wrong. No bacon, no double, no cheese. It was dried out and gross. It had a burned taste. They waitress never looked at me or came to my table after she brought it. She knew what trash the kitchen tried to pass off as food. I don't expect much from a hotel airport restaurant, but come on. They should have some sort of self-respecting standards.

We had missed our connecting flight from Dublin Ireland to Rome Italy and the airline put us at this hotel. The hotel was about 5 minutes of shuttle ride away. There was a shuttle from the hotel that provided transportation to and from the airport.
The hotel itself was clean and the in-house restaurant was decent.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Anne C.Arlington, United States115214 Aug 2023
Absolutely miserable experience. We were bumped from our flight, and called ahead to make sure that we would have a place to stay - and were assured that there were rooms. Rooms plural was an overstatement.
On arrival, all four of us were shoved into a single room where they'd rolled a cot in to make up the fourth bed, we assume so they could soak the airline for two rooms while only giving us one. The radiator was stuck on, but we didn't discover that until 10pm because the rooms don't have a/c, so we thought it was just naturally warm. There were no fans in the room. When the human noise from the balcony outside next door finally abated enough for my older son to try to go to bed, he discovered that his bed was shoved up against the hot radiator by nearly scalding himself.
I walked down to the front desk, where the hotel staff said we should just open the windows, as they weren't sure how quickly they could get maintenance on-site. Of course, the windows were actually the patio door, faced the airport where planes were taking on and off, and which were directly above a patio where people had been smoking and talking very loudly all evening. The windows also didn't have screens, presumably explaining why there were flies in our room when we walked in.
Our comped food taking over an hour to arrive after we'd order seems small potatoes at this point, but the respiratory virus we picked up after the stay - probably because we'd had so many people in and out of our room - took over a week to get rid of. I'm only grateful it wasn't COVID.
Never again. If we ever have the misfortune to be bumped again, we will be demanding to stay at a different airport hotel.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 17 Oct 2022
Nice amenities, professional staff.
Brown Stain on bed sheet that was quickly remedied when I called front desk.
Worst part is when planes land, windows rattle. Annoying for light sleepers who are trying to get some shut eye.
Large rooms but the shower tub can't fit an American wide body. Even maneuvering in the shower can be a bit daunting.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Brendan C.Surry Hills, Australia828 Sept 2023
Lacks the basic amenities you would expect in the rooom like aircon and a small fridge. The power points TV and lamps were not working on one side of the room, when we tried to call reception,it rang out 4 times. I tried their app, and no one answered. After an hour i just went to reception. There was no room service even though their website and app say there is, so when I went down to their restaurant, they said they don't do takeaway, recommending the Cafe in the lobby which served pastries. Luckily, there was a Circle K convenience store across the road. Try the Travel Lodge across the road of you're staying near Dublin Airport.

The burger was great, but over two hours for a meal is ridiculous. We saw other patrons carrying their drink trays because they are understaffed. Had four separate wait staff. Had to ask multiple times for items. Has potential to be very good with better management.

The Carlton hotel was a very nice hotel in Dublin Ireland. I stayed here for extra nights because my flight was canceled and so I got stuck in Ireland. The hotel was roomy, clean, and very well-stocked. The staff was incredible, very accommodating to all of the people that got stuck because of the flights delay. They fed us for free which was good. the food was OK but the drinks were great. Anyhow, if you are ever in Ireland, Dublin specifically and need a place to stay don't hesitate to stay at the Carlton.

Last night in Dublin, we dropped the rental car off at the airport and took the shuttle from the airport to the hotel. We were lucky enough to catch the hotel shuttle just before it departed. The driver jumped out, asked if I would like the bag 'in the back' and he took it to the luggage area while I hopped inside the van which is three seats across, with an aisle separating two seats on right, one on left (from a seated position). It is a short drive to the hotel. The driver was very friendly.
The lobby is filled with plush, leather arm chairs so it was easy enough to wait our turn to check in either standing on line or sitting. A few more guests arrived needing front desk assistance, and a third staff member appeared to help with the gathering crowd. There is a coffee service by the front desk, and a table at the far end with flavored waters and a bowl of fresh fruit.
The young woman who assisted us was very nice and did her job well. Our reservation was made through their website and we included the options to order a bottle of wine for the room and a three course dinner in the KittyHawk restaurant on site. During the booking process dinner reservations were required and I requested 6:00pm dinner and a 4:30am shuttle back to the airport. Neither had been scheduled. The young lady who was assisting us wrote our requests on paper schedules attached to a clipboard behind the reception desk.
Our room was a good size, with one single and one double bed, two comfortable chairs, one desk chair and good size bathroom with double sinks and a shower. There is a long bar area along one side of the room where the bottle of wine we pre-ordered (a red) was waiting along with two wine glasses. It was a screw top Cabernet-Syrah mix. Light and fruity; an unassuming table wine. Under this bar area, inside a cabinet door, was a tray including an electric kettle, three large mugs, instant coffee, teas and creamer. It is quite a heavy tray, so use care when pulling it out. We placed it on top of the bar in preparation of our early morning departure. The bed pillows are fiberfill and support your neck well, which I enjoyed after a week of feather pillows that go flat.
The shower is large, and had both a hand held option (turn water to the left) or rain shower head (turn water to right) option. I personally am not a fan of these rain shower heads. When washing your hair you have to stand away from the water, which falls directly down, and that can be cold. A small shelf or bench would be nice in there. A small thing, but there is plenty of space for it.
All in all, we were satisfied with the meal, and it was easy to walk down to dinner and back to our room for an early night. Do not pre-order dinner, as the menu price is less than the pre-order price.
In the morning we missed the shuttle, even though we were down in the lobby on time. As we were leaving the room, the telephone rang so we went back to answer it, and no one was there. By the time we got to the lobby, the shuttle had gone and we were told by reception 'the driver had to go'. Not sure why he had to leave early, but we had a flight to catch and were not happy that we reserved the shuttle the night before and they let it leave without us. Perhaps that was the telephone call? But if we didn't answer the phone, shouldn't that have been a sign we were on our way to the lobby? So many small mistakes made throughout our short stay.
A taxi was ordered for us and the hotel did pay for the service which we very much appreciate, so it did work out, but only after a bit of stress on our part. We would have had to wait half an hour for the next shuttle if we hadn't made a fuss.
The room was comfortable, on site restaurant is very convenient, in room kettle, a bus stop nearby to get into town and a free airport shuttle. All good things. A few things could have been improved on our stay, but I still think this is a good option for an airport hotel.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 4 Jan 2018

For anyone who wants to stay overnight near the airport, the Carlton is a good bet.
The rooms were comfortable and did a reasonably good job of insulating noise from the nearby airport.
Shuttle service to the airport was quick and easy.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Wifi worked very well.
The exercise room was a bit sparse but had free weights and some aerobic machines.
Breakfast and dinner were pretty good and served our need for convenience, but nothing to rave about.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0
