The Co-op Supermarket

I agree on steeps with regards to this supermarket. The first issue is the parking - The co-op boasts a large free car park and yet people insist on cramming into the area closest to the front doors meaning parent and child spaces and disabled signs are ignored.


Last time I visited the store was messy with boxes left out and huge empty spaces on the shelves. Vegetables were close to being out of date and their reduced shelf was full of already out of date goods.


Their salad bar isnt well maintained, and most of the meat counter was all packed away when I visited depite there being well over an hour until closing time.


All in all not a high standard kept all around.

Years ago this supermarket used to be so popular and yet now I wouldnt visit unless I absolutely had too. Generally I like the Co-ops and since alot of them have been rebranded in a corner shop style I think it works well, However this one is not as good as it could be.


I think this supermarket needs to make up its mind what it is, With its DVD rental section I have to ask is it a corner shop but then when they try to stock a large range of wilting fruit and veg you think supermarket.


Personally as per the above comments I wouldnt buy from here. It is poorly maintained and everything looks worn and dirty, in addition to this the word 'fresh' food seems to confuse them as they leave clearly old vegetables lying around.


Dont touch the salad bar here.

The Co-op is, sadly, our local supermarket. I only wish is was a Tesco. The food is overpriced, the fresh food is less than fresh and the salad bar is always messy and not looked after. The staff are so miserable you could wipe the dirty floor with their bottom lips. The toilets are absolutely disgusting and they are in dire need of a clean. They have a porch section where the local youths gather and terrorise the elderly yet are never thrown out. The parking is atrocious and the attendant does not police the usage of the disabled and parent & child spaces.

I recently visited this Co op for the first time. For me it was fine because I buy own brand only as it is BUAV approved, however, I did notice the extortionate prices on other brand items. It certainly isn't a a store I would use for my main shopping, but for some toiletries and household items it was good enough.
