Review from Robbie J.
A good hotel in a great location. I stayed here over spring break and found that this was exactly what I was looking for in Dublin. Its very modern/indie & comfortable. Plus its in the heart of temple bar ( aka a drunk'n hop from all the best bars) and walking distance to all of Dublin's attractions.
-The staff was great and very helpful with restaurant recommendations.
-The rooms are quite spacious all white & very chic. The beds are very comfortable and large.
-The restaurant has very good food and at night its a very nice lounge with good music and even better drinks.
Definitely will stay here again when in Dublin.
Cheers' to the Morgan! -

Just a note, the photos of this hotel are of the suite. Most room are much smaller (average size hotel room) with a bed, chair, desk, and bathroom. The bathroom has glass doors and a soaker tub, which is very hard to get out of. I would say I got stuck, but because it is also narrow it make for a difficult time to stand up. I ended up skinning my knee on the drain. The doors, I mentioned are glass. They are not see-through, but you can see barely an outline. The beds have goose feathers on them, which are nice but my husband I are are allergic to down, and the hotel seemed to never hear of such an allergy. It took a few phone calls to the front desk before they fully understood. Lucky for us they were able to find the only 2 pillows in the hotel that were cotton...I didnt dare ask for a second! The queen sized bed was actually 2 twins pushed together. My parents, who were staying a floor above ours, didnt have this issue. Back to the beds......the softest bed I have ever slept in, but not in a 'too soft, hurts your back' kind of way. Soft like, sleeping on angles wings, or perhaps a cloud. It was hard to get up that next morning. I kept thinking to myself, "at least you have another night here!"
Now I gave this super posh hotel 3 stars, not because of anything listed above, alougth the tub was aggravating. I didnt like how loud the streets were at night. We soon realized that we were right next to a night club in the heart of Temple Bar. If I knew the hotel was in Temple Bar I would have known to stay away. Temple Bar, for anyone who doesnt know, is right near the Tinity College and is the heart of the torrist area, both making it fun but very loud. ALl night we listened to the sounds of streets; drunk college kids, lost torrists, some party..which I think was next door in the opposite hotel room.
The second night the noise increased as the hotel was having some club time party going on. It didnt bother me. If I wasnt so tired from the long trip I might have gone down to see what was going on. It did, however, bother me that it went on like this until very early in the morning. I went to sleep at 3am and the music did not die down. I knew Temple bar was like this, but I didnt know the hotel would be loud as well.
The hotel is right next to the HardRock Cafe, along with many other american type places and a lot of pubs. None of them were worth the visit to. We ended up eating at the Hard Rock twice. If you like Pub food, check out the local pubs. Most of them have the same menu. We tried the hotel food late one night, only have 2 options. The panini was dry and tasteless, but the bread was crisp. The chocolate cake was ok. I wouldnt try the food durring the day after this.
The only saving grace to this hotel is the modern apeal. For overly trendy people, this hotel might come across as 'last years model' but to me, it was a nice change from the crappy hotels back in the states. I like modern, this hotel was euro modern = nice change. The plastic chairs were a bit much though and not comfy at all. The White couch was a bit fake too, being able to see the linen lines (see through fabric almost). Overall, 2.5-3 stars. -

Dublin
I went here for the first time on a Saturday evening to meet some friends for a cocktail. The bar looks too trendy, decor is a bit over the top especially the curtains that you can pull around some tables. A little excessive! Its pretty much got zero atmosphere and the cocktails were mediocre.
As the night wore on, the music got worse. Every non-distinct song had a live bongo going along with it and it seemed people were dancing to the same song over and over again. The crowd seemed to get rougher, girls were showing off their underwear like burlesque dancers and I had to keep reminding myself that it IS typical Temple Bar!
Only for the fact I needed to go here again for a work event mid-week, I hopefully will avoid this place for the rest of my life. -

There is a lot to like about the Morgan. It has an excellent location...right in the heart of temple bar on Fleet Street. It has a happening adjacent bar on the weekend. It offers free (albeit very slow) wifi. The interior of the lobby and rooms are hip and trendy. Think giant sliver framed mirrors and clear plastic chairs.
Why 3 stars then...given all those perks? Well the hotel is starting to show its age. That white leather covered lift might have looked great when the hotel first opened, but now its a bit gritty (someone tagged it with a black marker). But the main reason for 3 stars and not higher is the noise! The location while great is surrounded by countless pubs and the crowds really don't quite down until 3am! This can be fine if you're in for a party weekend in the Irish capital, but is a severe down-side if you are there for business meetings and expect a quiet night sleep!
Prices are reasonable for the location and what you get---I got a rate of 115 euro which included a buffet breakfast and 2 mojitos....not too shabby! -

Hotel: This is a decent hotel but way overpriced for what you get. Double the price of some older (and nicer) hotels in the area.
Pros:
+ Great bar scene
+ Good music and vibe, fun dancing
+ Lots of attractive posers
+ Drinks vary by bartender - Ask for Ben, he was the best by far
+ Decent beds and pillows
+ Nice location central to most daytime tourist attractions
Cons:
- in Tourist Temple Bar
- Wireless sucks, barely to non-working in/around most of hotel
- Noisy until 3am
- Noisy from 7am on
- "new Hotel" part over bar AVOID super noisy and you will smell cigarette smoke until 4am
- Cramped little bathrooms
- Run by non-Irish who don't have a clue where to send or recommend you go
The Morgan is a great stop-off for a Saturday evening drink and a dance. Then get the hell out of Temple Bar and go somewhere better (Georges St) or worse (Copper Face Jacks) and stay somewhere nicer & quieter just north of the Liffey for 1/2 price of The Morgan. -

I had a noisy, hot room, in a very oddly decorated hotel. When I say noisy, I mean NOISY!!! It was basically impossible to get to sleep before 2AM or after 7AM. This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

Located in the Temple Bar, the Morgan Hotel is one of the perfect places to stay if you're planning to enjoy the Dublin nightlife or spend a lot of time within the city limits.
Trinity College, Grafton Street, Guinness Storehouse, the IFSC, Ha'Penny Bridge, Dublinia and Dublin Castle are all within short walking distance.
The hotel's rooms are decorated in white; white walls, white linens, white furniture, white carpet, with bleached hardwood floors. The bathrooms have modern fixtures as well. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.
If you're looking for a cool place to host people in Dublin--check out their penthouse.
The carpark, which is located across the street, is very convenient... especially when you're smuggling a puppy into the hotel.
This hotel holds very special memories for me. I loved it so much--I named my dog after it. -

I give this place a 3.5 but opted for the 4 stars only because I think I should know what I'm getting into when staying here. I love the fun, hip, boutique nature of the place. Definitely hoppin on the weekends and very modern looking.
At nights, its like a Vegas nightclub that bumps til 2 at night. Every night. So if you are lucky enough to get a 1st floor room in either building, you are pretty much 'feelin it' Hence the 1 star detraction. That being said, if you are normally out til 2 every night. this place is for you!
Rooms are nice, but don't get the 4th floor esp in the corners as the building narrows and gets smaller as it rises. Also, book on expedia and not on their site as it seems to be almost 1/2 price when online. -
Review from Enrico F.
Terribly horrible food! Outrageous prices for the most terrible food I ever tasted in my entire life. Every single meal looked like it was out of date from weeks (really rancid flavour). The only vegetarian option the chef offered was, in their name, "penne all'arrabbiata", that to me is "cheapish tomato pasta". Asked for a ceasar salad as well and that was biggest mistake I could make. Was sick overnight (and sick friends who actually just tasted it).
The manager was a bit of a control freak asking his staff to go and ask everybody every 5 minutes if everything was fine, really annoying.
Didn't dare to sleep over there. -

So cool, so hip and very with it, The Morgan is a happy hour hot spot and big hotel with a boutique feel right in the heart of Temple Bar.
Downstairs in the ultra-cool bar and lounge we enjoyed glasses of wine and comfortably chic couches, feeling smugly trendy the whole time. Later that evening headed to the roof garden of one of The Morgan's penthouse suites and found a delightful surprise: an airstream caravan, kitted and fitted for posh adventuring (as long as that adventure is restricted to a roof garden)!
While the views from the roof were a bit cramped (we got an eyeful of a few apartments) there was serious fun to be had with the whimsical caravan, barbeque and Adirondak chairs. Yes it was cold... but it was cool, too! -

just a quick review of the bar - for a place that is in temple bar, has an extensive cocktail menu and caters to tourists, the drinks are overpriced (even considering they're in a tourist spot and cocktails are expensive) and really not all that good. if you're in the area and want a delicious cocktail, go down the street to the octagon bar.
i apologize for the low rating and hope it will not discourage you from staying at this hotel because a friend of mine stayed here and loved it. their room was fabulous and luxuriant. and a bit quirky too :) in fact, i would probably stay at the hotel if i didn't live here already. and you really can't beat the location (unless you have an aversion to drunk people outside at 6 am. heh. but that's temple bar for ya!) -

In a word: OVERPRICED.
We tried to make arrangements at another hotel with openings 2 doors down, but never got the confirmation. When we arrived, that hotel, which I stayed in & quite liked in 2007, was full. We went to the Morgan & it was double. DOUBLE. My husband, exhausted & sensing my exhaustion after a long drive from Mulranny following a night in which I'd slept horribly, persuaded me to stay there, insisting it would take forever to find something cheaper. I knew better but was too tired to argue. The woman at the front desk offered to include breakfast for our 2 night stay, which was nice (though we discovered we could only take them up on it one day, as we had to leave for the airport before breakfast started at 8 Sunday).
The location is great, and the room surprisingly quiet for the booming music & large crowd in the swanky modern bar downstairs. The breakfast was decent as well. However, for being the most expensive hotel room I'm stayed in (including another in Dublin, as well as a boutique hotel in Chicago and a hotel in Manhatten), I was expecting it to really be something. What it was was a smallish, all-white, but pleasant room that looked chic at a glance, but with a closer look was a little sub par. First, there was a big brown stain on the cream-colored rug. There was also a white wingback chair that wasn't truly white or covered in a proper chair cover, but rather only had the surfaces covered in white fabric so you could see the sponge edges of the cushion. The final badness is the lack of ventilation in the bathroom has led to some serious ceiling mold. That's not just a cosmetic problem; that's potentialy dangerous.
Additionally, they are not super technologically advanced. There appeared to be internet access through the TV, but the keyboard in the room was without batteries. They did advertise free wifi, so we called down for login info & they had to call us back with it. It was incorrect, so we called back &, again, they had to call us back with the info. Then my husband's account (temp password for the free wi-fi) was cancelled sometime Saturday evening, even though our checkout was the next day. We called down to get a new one and, of course, they had to hang up and call back. Only, there was never a call back.
If this had been a 75 or 100 euro per night hotel, I'd have fewer issues (aside from the mold). When The fees are over 150 euro, I expect the room to be clean & the service to be excellent. They fell way short. -

Dublin
I have never stayed in The Morgan but I have drank in their bar a couple of times and I really liked it. Their cocktails would be up there with the best in Dublin.
I was recently at an event there and they did a delicious kiwi cosmopolitan...the only thing was that there was no kiwi in it! I obviously didn't mind but I thought it a little random to call it that! I still managed to drink a few regardless of this fact!!!
The food they were serving at the event was only ok - they were tapas that came from their restaurant. Im a big patas bravas fan but I was very disappointed with these ones...that's probably not a fair judgement to make on the hotels food as a whole though. I couldn't say whether the other food on the menu was good or bad, so I shall stay impartial!
It's quite a cool place and you can't beat temple bar for great atmosphere and a fantastic location. -

Good location, Cool bar.... Rooms are old and worn. I would not stay here again. The Fitzwilliam was a much better hotel.

Let's face it. Many hotels in Dublin are downright archaic, so The Morgan seems like a reasonable choice given the selection. While the location on Fleet St. in Temple Bar is convenient, it isn't exactly a top notch address. What it does provide is a convenient, if noisy, location to other attractions, including St. Stephens Green, Trinity, and Grafton St. I stayed in a standard suite (note, this was a single floor suite, so don't let the photos fool you). Make sure you know what room type you're booking.
The Good:
- Checkin was easy. I wasn't given a choice of rooms like other travelers have noted, but I did arrive at 7am and was swiftly given a room key. Since I'd been flying for 15 hours, this made me very happy.
- The location is good and bad. The good is it's convenience to popular tourist attractions and bars. There are many great restaurants in St. Stephens Green, and Eden is right up the road from the hotel. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.
- The bathroom resembles that of a North America bathroom. You will have all the ammenities you need, plus some room to breathe. This is a bonus for those of use who travel to Europe and are aghast upon entering bathrooms that aren't fit for man or beast.
- The beds are comfortable, the pillows are soft, and there is ample closet space.
- The Morgan Bar has serves a great Irish buffet breakfast, and is also fun for cocktails, though quite expensive. There is also an outdoor area to accommodate smokers.
- Free WiFi is lightening fast.
The Bad:
- Extremely overpriced, in every sense. I paid €200 for a standard suite. Granted, U2 was in town, but regardless. The drinks in the Morgan Bar are also outrageously overpriced and the pours are rather stingy. You're better off going up the road unless you simply want a pint of Guinness.
- The "concierge," while very friendly, isn't that knowledgeable about the entire country. I was misdirected by 3+ hours on an attempted day trip to visit family. I was very pleased I brought my laptop and second guessed her route.
- The front desk is hit or miss in the wee hours of the morning or late at night. Good luck cashing traveler's cheques or asking for directions, et al.
- I stayed in the "new" building, and my room was located 3 short floors up from the outdoor section of the bar. Insanely noisy until about 1:45am. Bring your earplugs.
- The location. Again, this is a positive as well as a negative. Fleet St. is unbearable on weekends, unless you want to see tarty young Irish women vomiting or passing out and young Irish men vomiting and yelling on the street. Not good.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Would I stay here again? I don't think so. It served its' purpose during a U2/holiday week, but there are much nicer, quieter hotels (like the Shelbourne) that are comparably priced.Listed in: In the Air, on the Road, and…, Hotels

Dublin
The Morgan is rated as a 4 star hotel and I have no problem agreeing with this rating. I stayed here one night in a standard room and I was impressed by their style and decor. Like the cocktail bar situated on the ground floor, the rooms are modern and classy. Everything in my room was white: white beds, couches, tables and lamps. I had a little balcony that overlooked a quiet cul-de-sac. Even though I was in the busy area of Temple Bar, I barely heard any noise. I wasn't woken up by housekeeping either. Prices are standard: I payed 110 Euro for a double bed. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I would like to come back soon and book another room for a special occasion.

Wonderful hospitality!! We got there at 8:00 am and they let us check in, not just store our luggage there. We were exhausted and they were very kind. It was warmer than usual & there's no air conditioning. The concierge brought us a fan that we hadn't requested, which was nice. The room was laughably small. Great location in the Temple district. The hotel has been redecorated and has some crazy disco lighting in the elevator. The restaurant in the hotel isn't good. We'll stay there every time we're in Dublin.
