Yes! Finally found a place that does real nail art & is fashion forward! I originally asked for one style and John was honest about its seasonal viability. He cared enough to show me other options and we found something I loved.
Great chatting, tunes, salon is clean and parking easy.
I will definitely be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Yumarie M.Los Angeles, United States20530422 Dec 2019
I came in on a 5pm on a Saturday. I was the last appointment, last customer. Everyone was nice. Service was fine. Results were not. I felt the service was rushed and not done appropriately. Now I have chipped nails on the second day. The texture of the nails is mushy, soggy, putty like. They are literally like scratch lottery cards. Normally, if you try to pick off gel nails, you can take off a chunk of your natural nail. These nails started chipping just hours after the apt. I'm taking a flight tomorrow morning, no way I can go back in for a re-do. NOR oils I want to. I'm sorry but, this is unacceptable and I will be calling for a refund. Wtf.
The person who did my nails was a blonde woman. With an accent. I thing to bad to say about the person. But my nails look shitty on day 2. That's unacceptableHelpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 184124351811 Oct 2019
I do not have a lot of experience with nail salons, but if I'm at one, it's for the very basic (normal manicure, buff finish, NO POLISH). TBEG successfully gets this part down to a science. However, I did find some artwork that was rather low-key and somewhat out of character that I actually considered doing for myself since it wasn't over the top. Once again, enter TBEG.
'Broken Glass' is the best way to describe this specific technique, where it appears shards of glass are sitting on top of your nail. In all actuality, it is cuts of iridescent/transparent foil-film, similar to what you find in some gift bags for stuffing, so it's very, very thin and weightless on top of the nail, perfect for me who is not into heavily detailed nail work.
I had a clear description/photo of what I was looking for, and I believe the name of the nail tech was Niki. We didn't speak much during my service-which I am fine with-but what I am here to discuss is the outcome, which was exactly what I was looking for. She shaped my nails to the specifications in the photo, and ensured the 'glass' was put into place securely. I felt comfortable using my hands after where normally if I were to get polish (many years ago the one or two times I had), I remember feeling as though I couldn't do anything since I would ruin the paint job. Not the case here. Happy this lasted over two weeks, possibly since it wasn't an obvious color change, this appeared to last much longer than I had expected.
There is a parking lot out front, and the one guy watches it like a hawk. He was hidden when I walked onto the property, but he is there (I had parked on Missouri). Front desk girl was there to greet with a smile (T or V, I know it rhymes with one of those letters), and the raven-haired manager was good in asking how everything went, and I was pleased to tell her of my positive experience.
Clean, bright salon that is making progress, and I am looking forward to the final outcome!
Normally I might have taken a photo but my hands are showing their age so that is not happening this time around. That being said, I would recommend any of the techs here at TBEG for anything between your basic manicure to your extreme, high-maintenance nail art.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I used to LOVE TBEG -- there are pics of my nails super deep on their insta! They were the only place in LA I loved.
New management has made this place ROUGH. I called on a Saturday evening and asked to make an appointment for whenever they had time for a gel manicure and pedicure. Darrin said he'd get me in at noon the next day for simultaneous services.
When I showed up at noon, there was only two other clients there (ahh! This place used to be PACKED!) and I was led to a regular station. When I mentioned that I was supposed to get a pedicure, I was told that it was "dependent on availability" and that "Darrin just told me right before he left." Uhhhh...why couldn't he tell me? I was open to booking an appointment at any point, not the next day! I would have waited for a time in the week if that's what was open. Then, the receptionist said that they "could probably get me in with someone who is super quick" -- idk about you guys, but the point of a pedicure is not to rush through it! Even I can slam some paint on toes and make it look decent. Just not a cool way to handle the situation at all.
I ended up just bailing -- it's super disrespectful of our time, especially at this cost. New ownership just doesn't know how to run a nail salon. Sucks to see this place go down the drain along with all of the great techs -- it was my fav for years!!! If you're also disappointed with TBEG (don't even get me started on their totally bizarre BH location), LAK Nail Bar is replacing them for me. That said, nothing in LA compares to the days with Victoria at the helm :( buy your business back, please!!!
EDIT re: Niki's comment - 1. I've waited for 3 days to get a call from Darrin about this, which I was promised by the front desk. Have called twice with no answer. 2. If you only have 3 stylists, please don't book appointments for services you can't render! 3. Maybe people are mentioning LAK because it's the only new local salon reminiscent of what you guys used to be...? Maybe instead of coming out super aggro and accusing me of shilling, take a look at the way your business has faltered. Former clients need somewhere to go! 4. We have never met and I'm not clear on what you're talking about re: seeing my face. If you were so excited to "see my face," you'd think you would have greeted me when I walked in or tried to remedy the problem in person. This is just a weird and bad response. Will never return.
EDIT 2: do I have time for this? Yup. Attached a screenshot of the original comment and proof that I have called every time -- you guys have never attempted to touch base with me. Also, proof that I've been a customer for almost 5 years -- who am I, seriously? You blocked out time but you could only fulfill one of two simultaneous services booked. You could have called me back any time Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. Still waiting.
To anyone else: I love reading a good yelp battle like most of you! But if these salon owners have time to argue with me on Yelp and no interest in keeping a client of 5 years, that's a sign that this is a sketchy business. Just do yourself a favor and research some other salons!Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0Business owner information

Sorry my store is not good enough for you but why are you here then if you love LAK that much.....????.( who are you ?) We called you right back after we heard you left the store only 10 seconds total time you were in and out my store. I blocked out 1 and a half hours for you and you walked out in 10 seconds. Your appointment was on Sunday afternoon. We are closed on monday and you say its three days on Tues morning? Good luck. Will not expect you come back.

They did the gel manicure over without charge. This time the technician fully soaked it off instead of only drilling. It looks great, as it did the first time. I am hoping it doesn't peel again. It might just be an issue with my nails we will see!
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 030 May 2019Previous reviewIt pains me to write this because I've been coming here for some months now. But it's necessary.
The people here are very nice. But I am just starting to realize that, although this is marketed as a luxury salon and caters to a higher end clientele, there are some deep flaws in how the business is run and service consistence.
For example, I initially wanted to resolve my issue through the business and submit my complaint via their online contact form. However, it was not working.
The gist of it is that I want a refund. On Mother's Day I got a yellow gel pedicure. The next night in the shower, I noticed the polish bubbling up and peeling off. I was irritated and decided to let it slide because I was a loyal customer and enjoyed going to their salon. I also thought maybe it was cheap polish.
But I got a gel manicure this past Saturday and the polish is already peeling off. I think this might be due to the technician trying to drill the previous gel off rather than soaking and scraping. The surface was not even under the polish which is what I think led to the peeling. There's no reason I should pay so much at a luxury nail salon for poorly done work. I noticed that on my appointments booked later in the day, the technicians seem in a hurry to leave. Understandable. Perhaps this is why they drill instead of scrape.
But If I want cheap service, I can go to cheap nail salons. A luxury nail salon has no business having these types of issues. - 1824863485 Nov 2016
Preface: this was my first time ever getting nails done AND first time getting gel! My experience here was amazing and I would never choose any other place to get my nails done for the first time. I've had the gel on now for 4 weeks and they still look amazing. Jennifer was extremely attentive, friendly, patient, and professional, especially since I got nail art done. I got a marble pattern done on four of my nails ($4 for each nail), each jewel was 50 cents, and each gold line that was drawn was $1. It adds up, but it was so worth it. Jennifer made sure everything that was put on was perfect to my liking, and she had no problem with me telling her exactly how I wanted the art placed/painted.
The interior is very welcoming with bright whites! Very sanitary salon. They offer infused water or tea at the beginning of your service. The receptionist was so friendly, too. Overall, I loved coming here and no matter how noob I was, they made me feel welcomed and treated me so so well.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jaime R.Los Angeles, United States172829 Sept 2018Updated review
Update: the nail technicians are NOT good; after inspecting further I realized how much gel was stuck to the skin on either side of my nail. Naturally, after a day or two this started to peel and take some of the gel on my nails with it. I've gotten better and longer-lasted gel at salons in the middle of nowhere Florida. Also, even though my technician cut my long nails WAY down (which alarmed me because I did not ask for them to be that short) and I expected that they'd be stronger since they were shorter, one of them already broke, after separating from the gel. It looks awful.
So insulting that they charged me to remove good gel just to put bad gel on.
Also, what I didn't mention in my previous review is the attitude not just the owner has but other people who work there. The woman who did my manicure was openly hostile to the woman doing my pedicure, which made me super uncomfortable. Also, the woman doing my manicure told ME what I should get and literally told me what I wanted wouldn't look good and made her own decisions about color, design, etc. FYI - I kind of hate the art I spent extra money on because her design ideas were garbage once she did them. Idk who's art TBEG is posting on their Instagram but it ain't hers. Peep my photo to see A) broke nail due to separation of gel from nail after a WEEK and B) the weird artwork; like it's fine, but it ain't pay-top-dollar fine. I should've had Pinterest worthy nails and instead it looks like I did it myself with reasonable practice.
Also, a guy who works there was talking crap about a woman who was 2-5 minutes late. I understand not wanting people to be late but he was being really rude about it until she showed up, and was even joking about charging the customer full price if HE was the one who was late.... sorry fam, where do you get your attitude, other than the fact that you work at a self-hyped nail salon?Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 01 Sept 2018Previous reviewA salon pretending to be way bougier than it is, and who will upcharge you every chance they get.
The nail technicians are very nice and good enough at what they do, but for the price, the work you get should be GREAT. For what I paid, I walked away disappointed. Their Instagram is a bit misleading as to the average quality of the work, at least from what I experienced.
Also, on their website it says gel color removal is free - they will charge $10 to remove gel if you come back again with gel that isn't theirs. Kind of weird, but I didn't mind because it was my first time there so gel removal was supposed to be free. I told the person on the phone while booking my appointment that I had gel on both nails and toes, but only wanted gel back on my nails (regular polish for toes). The woman on the phone said that it wouldn't be a problem. When it comes time for me to pay, I was charged $10 for removing the gel from my toes. Not only is their website misleading about this, but when I'm paying extra for nail art and getting a mani and a pedi, nickel-and-diming me over gel removal seems obnoxious. I contested the issue with the owner and she apologized but still charged me for it.
Long story short, they treat you (monetarily) like it's a way higher-end salon than it is. - Charlotte A.Westchester, Los Angeles, United States221326 Aug 2018Updated review
I have been meaning to update my review to discuss the poor quality of the new management, but I can see that some other people have already beat me to it!
I live just down the street from TBEG and had been coming here for 4+ years, almost since it had first opened. When Victoria owned this place, it was amazing! Everyone was so sweet, scheduling appointments was a breeze, quality of work was impeccable, etc.
Now, this place is owned by one of the old techs and her boyfriend. I had high hopes that they would keep it running as nicely as it had been, but sadly they are not. A couple months ago, I had my nails done by my favorite artist, and upon leaving, the boyfriend/new owner (don't remember his name, doesn't matter) made my next appointment. A few days later he canceled my appointment because the artist's schedule was not available yet for that month and he had made a mistake in scheduling me. I was promised that I would be called back as soon as her schedule was available for that month. Time went by, and no one called me. When I took the initiative to call, I was informed that her schedule was full and could not get in.
I asked to speak to this gentleman who canceled my appointment and left me hanging. He tried to blame the mistake on Nadia, but Nadia would never have done this. This error was entirely his fault, and he was trying not to accept responsibility for it. Nadia was always so great with the schedule. This man was hardly apologetic and offered no solution to my problem. Luckily Nadia, who was still working there at the time, called me every time my nail artist had an opening until she was able to finally get me in. At that last appointment, my nail artist informed me she would be leaving, so I have since followed her to the new place and have not been back to TBEG.
From what I have heard, they fired all the old staff anyway. So there really is no point in ever going back. For whoever reads this, you're better off going somewhere else. The new ownership is very bad.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for being a customer of ours. We wish you the best as you follow your stylist to her new salon and wish you all the best.
Dear Charlotte,
Thank you so much for taking your time and writing such a wonderful review for us. It is always a pleasure to have you and your mom in our studio. We are looking forward to see you for your next nail Art project;)11 Dec 2014Previous review***Highly recommended***
My mother and I used to religiously go to In Style nails in Westwood, but TBEG has been my new go-to place for manis and pedis! I was looking for a place that did all sorts of nail designs and lucky for me I live walking distance from this place so I decided to give it a try and am SO glad that I did. I have now been back about 4 or 5 times, and I've never been disappointed with the results. I've even brought my mom on a couple occasions and she's commented on how nice it is that the artists take their time and don't power through like factory workers.
As you can see from many other reviews, this place is CLEAN. Not only does the interior look clean decorated all white and chic, but the instruments are sterile, and you're invited to wash your hands upon entering (as a health professional, these earn big points with me).
When you sit down, you're offered refreshments (tea, coffee, hot chocolate, or something tasty like watermelon mint juice). The staff is friendly and accommodating. They have an iPad with pictures for nail design ideas if that's something you like to do, as well as a giant binder with all kinds of decals. I've received manicures from Tweetii, Jazzy, Akina, Bao (sorry if that's misspelled), and a couple other girls who's names I can't remember right now, but they were all FANTASTIC, every time. Another thing I like is that everyone at this place likes to have fun - during Halloween they went all out with decorations, etc.
A few things to know:
- MAKE AN APPOINTMENT
- When you make an appointment (because you will make one if you want to be seen) be sure to specify if you want a gel manicure with designs! (I've made the mistake of not specifying that, and if they're busy that day, there won't be enough time for it.)
- These girls are very detail oriented (which I LOVE). If you want designs on your nails, it could take a while i.e. 1-1.5 hours. If you don't like sitting and being pampered for that long, then you should reconsider doing gel/designs (and you're crazy)
- Pedicures here have cost me on average $35
- Gel manicure with designs is ~$65 (in my experience)
- Make sure to snag a membership card on the way out and get a stamp on it. After about 9 or 10 visits, you'll get a certain amount off your next service.
- They can make your craziest nail design dreams come true! (and they're good at it) - Kara T.Los Angeles, United States564752226 Jan 2019
I made an appointment at 10 am the day before but for some reason I was never inputted in their system. One of the owners was very apologetic and accommodating. He set me up for an appointment with the other owner around noon.
I love that most of the techs are young and a mix of ethnicities.
The parking lot is super small but there's street parking.
The only downside to this place is I love nail designs and it gets pretty pricey here. Other than that, I love this place.
Clean and great customer service.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 319337120621 Apr 2017
So glad I found this place. First time came here with my sister and mom so we can get our gels before my sister's wedding. My sister and I got some crystals and art on our nails and they did a fabulous job.
Today I got my gels done for my upcoming graduation. Once again hit it out of the park. I showed some pics of what I was looking for but appreciate that the nail artist gave her feedback ton how to change it up a little to look good on my nails.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
