Urban Outfitters, Birmingham is on the corner of New Street / Corporation Street in a good central location by the tram tracks. Other than having the most modern, fast and cleanest lift which I've seen in an Urban Outfitters store, it really didn't impress me as much as their Manchester and Liverpool stores.
The selection was okay in general and they did have a sale section, again this was smaller than Manchester and Liverpool.
The music around the store was far too loud, which again didn't seem to be a problem at their other locations.
The first floor is much larger and they do have some cool, novelty items which you'd expect to find at any Urban Outfitters including a photo booth.
The store cleanliness was poor with items just thrown on the floor and staff appearing to make no effort of tidying the store up.
2* - A good brand with some cool novelty items but they really do need to work on increasing standards similar to other UK stores and even going one better.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Ad T.Tipton, United Kingdom2620626828 May 2012First to Review
Birmingham's Urban Outfitters is a trendy place to shop.
The fashion is a little different, new and even vintage, and they also offer home pieces such as rugs and bedding, also festival essentials, tshirts, funky caps, small gadgets for stocking fillers and so on.
Whatever your looking for your bound to find it in here! This is one of my favourite places to shop, and in particular, I like the unique type of gifts that you can get, but can't purchase anywhere else.
A little pricey though, and they are very friendly in here. Spaced over 2 floors, there is a lot to browse.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (akeel…)London, United Kingdom621149628 Nov 2008
Urban Outfitters is the coolest fashion retailer around! It stocks premium rate brands and labels, as well as vintage pieces. Fantastic for the passionate fashionista or if you're looking for something quirky and unique.
Also great for gifts and homewares, with a retro/quirky touch.
It's not the best place to shop if your a poor student like me though! BUt fun to just browse.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (Yankee…)Birmingham, United Kingdom612035729 Mar 2010
Urban Outfitters has been very popular in the US for about ten years, but just making a strong appearance in Britain in recent years.
Known for trying their urban little hearts out to be as trendy and quirky as possible, they achieve it and manage to make shoppers feel cool just by association.
Of course, you'll pay an arm and all three legs for the privelege, but they do play some great tunes while you shop.
The Brum UO is no exception, and is quite a large specimen of Urbanity (these Urban jokes getting old yet?). The downstairs is all clothing and a few home wares and accessories.
Upstairs is mostly homewares, house and kitchen and bedroom stuff.
UO has some really unique things, and is a great shop if you're looking for a gift for someone hard to buy for, or with really different tastes. All the clothes are pretty cute, always a bit on the ugly side to make you feel that much hipper.
The homewares stuff is just really kitschy and slightly bizarre -- lots of throwbacks to previous decades, with 1940s and 50s bakeware and aprons, 70s bell bottom shaped mugs, and 80s microchip clocks, etc.
A fun shop to have a browse in, but if you want to buy, be prepared to part with a lot of cash. True to UO too-cool-for-skool style, all the staff at the Brum UO are all busy looking busy and being dismissive.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (Jasmin…)Birmingham, United Kingdom339732025 Nov 2008
The clothes here are nice, and a bit different from most high street stores.although these slight diferences come with a hefty price tag! (well, its not that bad, but not student friendly prices!)
The lay out and displays are brilliant, very raw and creative.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (nondis…)Birmingham, United Kingdom101771 Apr 2010
You'll have absolutely no idea why you set foot inside Urban Outfitters at first, given that it's the kind of shop which seems to sell everything and nothing. All the same, you may very well find yourself walking out with a couple of bags full of strange and interesting tat you just happened across while casually browsing.
Urban Outfitters stocks a vast range of clothing, books and bric-a-brac that appeals to those trying to come across as hip and trendy. Huge swathes of their stock cries out "if you're cool, you'll buy me" despite the fact that realistically speaking you could probably pick it up elsewhere for a fraction of the price, if you were only willing to look for it.
I can't recommend going to Urban Outfitters for anything specific, but if you are confident you have the willpower to resist going overboard on impulse spending, it's worth a quick browse if for no other reason than getting an idea of what's considered 'hip' at any given nanosecond in time. You may also pick up a gift idea or two, given the sheer variety of goods on offer here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (gemmab…)Birmingham, United Kingdom21785514 Jan 2008
Urban outfitters stocks fabulously kitsch clothes for men and women. You definitely won't have to break the bank to pick up a few key pieces from here, although you may stumble across a designer masterpiece that sets you back a couple of weeks wages. Be prepared to have a fat day as clothes are sized a little on the super skinny size. Recycled vintage pieces, books on burlesque and a bit of Mr Scruff playing in the background are the norm here.

The clothes here are gorgeous. The problem is they only go up to about a size 12, much smaller than most shops which is a shame.
The prices are also seriously expensive and although you might find something nice, there are usually better bargains to be had around the city centre. The quality of the clothes also isn't great, scarves and jumpers I've had haven't lasted too long.
There is a very nice gift section which sells some quite exciting and interesting items. However, I would recommend that you write down the details and search around as you can often find the same things much cheaper either in nearby shops or on the internet.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (JennyS…)Birmingham, United Kingdom3109 Apr 2009
If you've got a buy a gift for the person who has everything (and a taste for quirky things!) then this is the place to go shopping! Its got men and women's fashion, as well as home furnishings, general gifts, fun books (like the art of making tea!) and music.
I am saving up for the old fashioned telephone they sell in there - its gorgeous but a bit on the pricey side!
This is somewhere I'd love to go shopping on a regular basis for clothes etc but I can't really afford it - thats why its perfect for gifts at birthdays or christmas time.
Just off new Street, this is in the middle of Birmingham's shopping area, and pretty well inbetween major bus stops and New Street Station.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (YummyM…)London, United Kingdom05020 Nov 2007
Urban Outfitters is set on Corporation street just up from House of Fraser. It is a brilliant shop selling all sorts from homeware to vintage clothing. An ideal shop if you are looking for something quirky or individual.
Urban Outfitters sells clothes by new and upcoming designers also second hand items, such as vintage jeans and boots. I love rumaging through all the accessories, they always have a huge selection of vintage belts and bags and i can always find something i want to buy. They are quite pricey, i bought a thin vintage belt from them last week and paid about £15 for it ! I probably could have bought it cheaper elsewhere.
Womenswear is on the ground and first floor, menswear is on the top floor. A unique shop, one of my favorites !Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
