What/Why:: Each week come along to prove your ping pong potential and be crowned 'King Pong' or just sit back, watch balls fly, have a coffee and issue high-fives and fist bumps to the winners. At our weekly pop-up we will have delicious coffee provided by 3FE and yummy food from Burrito & Blues - all free! Tunes on the night will be provided by Ping Master DJ Brian Taffe! Starting October 13th and then every Wednesday from 7pm til 9pm.* In the Culture Box. Get those little balls ready Dublin!

When: Every Wednesday 7pm til 9pm* (except the following 2 weeks it will be held on Friday from 6-8pm but will resume to normal after)

Where: Look for the Yelp Balloons outside!

How to get involved:
Each week there will be 16 places available for people wanting to play in the tournament (you can still come on down if you don't want to play). Registrations will be taken on a first come first served basis. Players must register each week they want to play. To register as a player you can:

1. Email your name (include a ping pong nickname if you wish) to dublin@yelp.ie
2. Click "I'm In" on the Yelp events page
or
3. Otherwise just ping pong down and hope that there is a spot still free!

The Game:
*Yelp rep will referee each match.
* At the beginning of the game, players must fist bump each other (the ping pong mark of respect).
* The Server will be decided by one round of paper, scissors or stone.
* The referee will be responsible for keeping score and updating the Match Schedule chart
* The game players will be called to the table and introduced by the Ping Master at the start of each match.
* The weekly winner will be presented his Yelp Prize and crowned 'Yelp's King Pong'

Golden Rule:
*Ping Pong Social Club is a bit of fun, don't take it too seriously and make sure you enjoy yourself.

Scoring:
* A match consists of one game. For each game, the first player to reach 11 points wins that game, however a game must be won by at least a two point margin.
* A point is scored after each ball is put into play (not just when the server wins the point)
* The edges of the table are part of the legal table surface, but not the sides.

Flow of the Match:
* Each player serves two points in a row and then switch server. However, if a score of 10-10 is reached in any game, then each server serves only one point and then the server is switched.

Service:
* The ball must rest on an open hand palm. Then it must be tossed up and struck so the ball first bounces on the server's side and then the opponent's side.
* If the serve is legal except that it touches the net, it is called a let serve. Let serves are not scored.

Respect:
* The decisions of the Ping Pong Social Club referees are final. Don't argue with us - we are trained in the deadly art of Ping Pong Shadow Boxing.

It will return to a regular Wednesday slot on the 3rd November.
