Wasn't expecting to find such great Thai food in Ireland! Great prices and great food to match!
Best Duck Spring Rolls ever. I truly have not tasty a spring roll so flavourful and crispy. My Husband could probably have just ordered 2 orders rather than one and been perfectly ok to stop there. We shared shrimp phad Thai and green curry and were perfectly content with the flavour and quality of our meals. The atmosphere was intimate and quite pleasant and the decor was what you would expect from a Thai restaurant with lots of earthy wood tones and apropiate art etc. Service was friendly and not overly pushy and we left with smiles on our faces.
I'm giving this restaurant full stars mainly because it deserves so. This restaurant is upstairs, so after the door located on the street you must walk upstairs and in the first floor there's a Buddha and a picture of the king of Thailand. Another door and you get inside, very fast you realize this place is good. As I can realize when someone is speaking in Thai language, I know that staff speaks Thai language, so they must be Thai or at least know a lot about Thailand. Also I paid attention to a table just opposite the doors, the women sitting there looked Thai, and gotcha, they were speaking Thai language with the waiters, so a place frequented by local people almost always means good. Decoration was full of Thai symbols, God faces and elephants, with the restaurant logo on the windows. After getting our table, we proceeded to take a look to both menus. The drinks menu included a comprehensive list of wines, some beers, smoothies and some kinds of tea. Food menu was big, divided by types of food, too many choices for us! We kept it simple and we went ahead with some spring rolls and Tom Ka Kai, both good. After that we ordered red duck curry and the famous Pad Thai. I must admit both of them were super tasty and with the original ingredients from Thailand. Service was fast and attendant and the place wasn't noisy at all.
I didn't think Dublin Ireland would be the place to get fantastic Thai food, but it really is. The restaurant is located on the second and third floor of the building and I'm not sure if they have elevator access so make it a point to ask when you're making a reservation. The food from the starter to our main courses to the dessert we're all full of flavor. If I had known about this place sooner I would've come a few more times on my trip.
I love the spicy, authentic, and flavorful food at Baan Thai. The service is great and they run early bird specials. The decor is cool, but the space itself feels a little dark and cramped. The food more than makes up for it though. I always get the chicken with chilies and it is delightfully spicy with just the right amount of heat. The portions are always huge & I usually have enough leftovers for lunch the next day. The wonton bags were only alright for me, I prefer spicy & sour prawn soup or the spring rolls.
I went here about a month ago after searching for a restaurant in ballsbridge and thank you Yelp, you did your job well. The food was incredible. The duck cho choo was so amazing that I had to go back at the weekend and have it again. There is a lovely ambiance here and the staff are so pleasant. A real authentic restaurant and the standard of food is just what you want.
Authentic Thai food. Everyone very friendly. The inside of the restaurant was incredible vibes. Must go if you are looking for good Thai food in Ireland. Great work
Gorgeous food and wonderful service, this was such a surprise to find especially given it's just around the corner from me and I never knew it existed! The red curry (we had chicken & duck) was sooooo good. The chefs and all ingredients are Thailand and that shows through. A big shout out to our server Arm who was so funny & attentive... and makes a mean post-dinner cocktail! All in all a great night out, and given the quality of food, fantastic value!
This place do a nice Thai lunch. Efficient staff and they allow you to advance submit your order which is handy when you are on the clock. The interior is quirky and though the floors are small they do cater for groups. I've never had a complaint with the food, not the best Thai you'll ever have but it is flavourful and tasty. Also very reasonably priced €13 for starter and main.
Baan Thai in Ballsbridge has been my go-to Thai restaurant in Dublin for over 15 years. I've been there with friends and family, and I have never had a bad experience coming to the baan Thai,Very good food of high quality and very authentic, the service always excellent and overall fantastic value for money, with the food extremely well presented there is literally nothing I give fault about the baan Thai! Highly recommend it!
You must go if you are looking for an authentic Thai food. The inside of the restaurant is very nice. The team is very pleasant. A comeback in Thailand !!
A really good Thai food option in the little cluster of bars and restaurants on Pembroke Road. The foods always been tasty, and excellent value for money. Service is friendly, and I really like the atmosphere of the place. There's something really quaint about Baan Thai too. From the big murals and portrait of the Thai monarch when you walk in to the peaceful atmosphere of the upstairs dining room, it's just a really nice spot to eat.
I love their interior - this place is cosy and has a nice relaxed feeling. Their lunch menu is at reasonable price. We ordered 2 starters each and the main. Food is tasty and authentic. We had spring rolls, prawns in wrapping, wontons and of course the delicious coconut soup! It was amazing - the best I had in Dublin so far. For main I had chicken and cashews - loved it. My friend had red curry - it's served with pineapple! Very hot! We are going back next week.
I like Thai foods. This restaurant is nice taste, and there have a lot of Manu. We can go to small group, and also we can get this restaurant all to oneself. Staff service is nice. They're very kind. I'd like to go to there again!
I recently stayed in the Roxford Lodge in Ballsbridge for my boyfriends birthday and I wanted to bring him somewhere nice to eat for his birthday meal. I looked up all of the nice restaurants in ballsbridge and came across Baan Thai. So thats where we went and it was AMAZING! I wish I could give more stars it was that amazing. The restaurant is really small and cosy and very intimate. The decor is so eye catching youd just sit there looking around :) the staff are lovely and so helpful and can explain the menu if you havent discovered authentic thai food before. We had mussels to start along with hot and spicy vegetable thai soup. Both had so much flavour that you could taste every ingredient. For my main I had salt and pepper king prawns on a bed of rice and veg :) nicest meal ive had in a long time and it was also fairly cheap. I cant fault this place and I cant wait to return! Authentic Thai food! Try the coconut ice cream it's my favourite
Good Thai food, authentic spicy and fresh, tables are a bit crowded. Started with a spicy chicken soup, delicious Followed with the red duck curry which was lovely, very rich but very good, could have been a bit spicier thought Overall good, I will return
A gem of a restaurant, we enjoyed friendly, prompt service and large portions of nicely prepared dishes. The chicken tom ka soup contained generous pieces of chicken and mushrooms with a fresh sprig of cilantro. Really hit the spot. The shrimp in the pad thai were delicious and numerous. The crisp green onion slices were a nice contrast to the luscious, tangy noodles.
Pros: within a few blocks of the Intercontinental and way more affordable than room service. Dimly lit, cozy interior. Cons: super crowded, hot/poor ventilation, understaffed, and food that's not worth putting up with the other cons. I had the red duck curry and was pretty disappointed given that this is supposed to be one of their signature dishes. The duck itself was super dry. I don't have any Irish Thai alternatives to compare to, to be fair, but this was extremely lackluster compared to Thai in the U.S./San Francisco. Would not come back.
The food was really good and so was the service. We ordered the duck spring rolls, Tom Ka soup, and Lamb Panang. All were very tasty and perfectly spiced for me. I would definitely return if I'm back in the area.
So spicy and authentic!!! Ordered the green curry and it packed quite a punch, one of the best I've ever had! The downer, appetizer- fried prawn was crispy but very bland. All in all, presentation, atmosphere and service was great. One thing that was funny is that they have chips on their menu... locals must love their fries. Glad to have found this place.
