Great cafe in a nice location. Sandwiches were great, cappuccinos great, and wait staff was great. Three greats + fantastic sunny weather for sitting outside. Info: They have basic sandwiches for a fair price (but seasoned well so nice and tasty), good looking salads, and have options for both vegies and meat-a-tarians alike. Don't forget to toast that sandwich! A nice clean bathroom. Free WiFi as well.
You see both locals and tourists here. They make a killer mocha here and their sandwiches are filled with extremely fresh ingredients. Mocha and sandwich was only 9€. I got there right at 8am (at opening), and they only took about 5-7 minutes to get my order ready. And pretty much right at opening, a line starts forming. That's pretty much a good tell tale sign that this is a good cafe. Will visit again the next time I'm in Dublin since it's right next to the hotel I stay at. Oh... and free wifi.
Got one thing off the bucket list....a smartie cookie. For the record it is a lot different than the ones in Vancouver but it is a traditional thing here in Ireland. I was in passing and didn't want to take my chances waiting to get it elsewhere. I also had some tomato soup which was nice for the soul. Good customer service and decent prices in an affordable area.
Delightful little cafe found just outside of Kilkamann Gaol. I rather enjoyed eating outside here in full view of the gaol to contemplate and reflect on the tour I had just taken. The food is delightful and delicious. It's nice to have a little place like this in the area. They also deliver on a proper cup of tea. The outside area is great for seating, and the staff is friendly. I'd definitely recommend if you are in the area.
Wonderful stop! Great sandwich and coffee. The staff was very nice. I wish the sandwich was better put together. I like my sandwiches evenly made.
Nice cafe across the street from Kilmainham Gaol we had a lovely breakfast while awaiting our reserved tour time. Friendly staff, tasty food, easy and tidy atmosphere.
The Lime tree is in a great location since the redevelopment of the area around Kilmainham Jail (or Goal if you are a tourist). The Royal Hospital housing the museum of modern art is at one end of the area and the Jail at the other. The cafe policy of "no baby buggies" is a little off-putting but only applies at busy lunchtime. If you arrive in the morning or early afternoon you and your little one will be welcomed. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. A big sexy chicken-on-sourdough sandwich will cost about a fiver and an Americano coffee about €3
Discovered this little gem of a place on a recent trip to Dublin. It's just steps away from the Hilton. It's great for breakfast or lunch. The staff is super friendly and kind. They were gracious enough to make a sandwich without cheese and substitute avocado on what can only be described as the MOST delicious focacia bread I've ever had! On another occasion, I had a bagel and some tea which was also great. Would definitely return.
Great little cafe across the street from Kilmainham Gaol. Bright, open free wifi. Great sandwiches and coffee. Perfect to grab some comfort food and get out of the weather.
Excellent sandwiches!!! Had the ham sandwich lunch, served with a simple and yummy salad. Sandwich was juicy and delicious.
Nice eatery near Kilmainham Gaol. Pleasant staff. I've eaten here a couple of times and it's always busy. I've enjoyed coffee, soups and sandwiches here. All of which were quite satisfying! One complaint though-it's not open on Sundays!
Back in the day, when I lived in the apartments opposite the Kilmainham Gaol and most commercial spaces there were unoccupied, I always thought to myself: someone should really open a little cafe here. And then, a few years later, someone did. I stopped by a few times in the last few weeks, service was friendly enough but not overly so and it was always busy. They have a couple of tables outside which are in high demand as they get the sun pretty much all day. I never had food here but I love their Suki teas. Try it if you are in the area.
Quick, friendly, tasty, and quite cheap. Love this quiet little place in the afternoon for late lunches
Great spot! Super close to our hotel, the Hilton Dublin Kilmainham, and delicious food. Needed somewhere to go for breakfast and tried it out based on other reviews. Reasonably priced too. Loved the bacon, cream cheese bagel!! Not sure why I hadn't thought of that. My mocha was wonderful and also tried the chocolate biscuit cake. The cake was a little rich for me, but still yummy. Highly recommend this place!
Popped in by chance while waiting for the Prison tour (across the road). Well worth the visit. Coffee was excellent: cappuccino and macchiato enjoyed. Pastries can often disappoint with the taste not living up to the visual impression, not the case here, caramel shortcake and rocky road cake were fab. Didn't eat lunch but food looked amazing.
Great breakfast and lunch place outside the jail. Quick service if you only have a few minutes before your tour starts.
With seating inside and out, lime tree cafe is a popular option due to its location to the Kilmainham gaol and locals in the area. I had a chicken and pesto wrap and tea. The wrap was served with a small side salad. I had the wrap toasted and it was quite good and flavorful. A good quick and easy option in the area (which didn't seem to have many other options).
Great little sandwich cafe near the gaol. Enjoyed a turkey and brie sandwich and coffee americano. Fast and friendly
I live close by and always said i would stop again and again for months because anytime I passed it was packed full of tourists coming from Kilmainham jail. I finally managed to visit last week and was really underwhelmed. I wanted a quick bite to go so I opted for a takeaway toasted sandwhich. Goats cheese, spinach, and carmelised onion on rye bread. It took about fifteen minutes to make and toast and the place was fairly empty this day. Well..the sandwich was what it said..nothing special just meh.. pretty bland to be honest I would of made better at home..and it was about 6euro on its own without a coffee or drink. I would return again though maybe for some breakfast they had a good menu lots of healthy options.
Lime tree cafe is a great option if you are looking for a quick bite and you are in kilmainham. It's located across the road from the famous gaol. There's a nice terrace area that we say in both times- it's set back from the road so it's pleasant. They do a great range of sandwiches, some hot dishes, lovely cakes and sweet nibbles and excellent coffee. I live nearer to insomnia in kilmainham but I think Limetree has more character. The staff will drop stuff down to your table when you have paid. I found them all to be friendly. Definitely worth a visit- do the gaol tour first and then walk through the Royal Hospital grounds after lunch. Perfect!
