I can't say enough good things about San Lorenzo's. The food is spectacular - just out of this world good and you get lots of it. It is on the pricey side but I always walk out with a full belly and a smile on my face so I wouldn't hold that against them. The staff are attentive without being annoying and the Host (think his name is Eoghan) is very friendly. I am not really a dessert person but I tried my partner's Nutella Cheesecake last time and wished I had ordered my own. Oh and they make great cocktails and have no problem with you ordering off menu so you know the bar staff are well trained.
Had been wanting to try this for a while. When I arrived there was a queue so delighted I had booked. It was tight but didn't feel that people were on top of each other. I had the Huevos Rancheros which was delicious, chili salsa wilted spinach with Polenta instead of a wrap which most places do, and I also had poached egg instead of a fried egg. The poached egg was more hard than I would have liked but that's just personal preference. I also had an expresso martini which was yum and had a bit of a kick to it. My friend had egg benedict and crab cake and she said they tasted as good as they looked. Around us the crab cakes seemed to be very popular. I was too stuffed for a dessert so got a cappuccino to finish. With so many places now that offer brunch I think this fares ok in comparison. The food was lovely and the place itself was funky. Although id maybe go back for dinner to try I wouldn't rush back but its simply as so much options now for a brunch. If you want a place that you can sit chill and eat for a catch up this isn't it as they do rush you (which is handy if you are hungry).
Brunch and munch and brunch..... the atmosphere is happy and friendly the minute u walk through the door! Star number 1!!! The menu itself is so big and has enough to keep the moans in your group happy so thats star Number 2!! The seat we had at the window with a great gawking view of the street was just perfect for the Sunday nose!!! Star number 3!!! The FOOD wow wow and another wow.... it's our second time here in the last month and I cannot fault this place for brunch! We love our brunch and this place just ticks all the boxes!!! Eggs royale, French toast, pork hash and avocado toast has been our choices and we haven't been let down!! Star number 4 & 5!!! If u want brunch then this is the place! Chilled, casual atmosphere with funky background tunes and good staff! This gets our 5 stars!!!!
A friend and I are visiting Dublin for two days before heading south. We heard a lot of great things about this place and came straight here after we landed from NYC Sunday brunchtime. The hostess was very accommodating - we originally had an earlier reservation date but due to our flight delay, missed our reservation. She seated us in a cozy corner in the back and was super friendly! We ordered Avacado on Toast and the Coco Puffs French toast (as so many reviewers had recommended) and the French road was amazing!!! Not too sweet, but definitely something you would share among girlfriends. The avacado toast is a good portion size for one person, and had a fresh taste to it with the pesto and garden greens. We also ordered a side order of house potatoes, but could've made due without it. Would definitely recommend this as a brunch place!
We read somewhere that this was the best brunch in Dublin and it's possible. I had crab cakes and wife had chicken tacos and both plates where amazing.
Popped in here for a cheeky midweek feed. It was a smidge on the pricey side but hey, has to be done every once in a while! I got the steak which came with creamy mash, green beans and garlic butter and it was very good indeed! And the steak was massive so I didn't feel so bad about paying the extra €8 on top of the €22 early bird deal! And of course, I couldn't leave without trying the much talked about Nutella cheesecake, and it was all kinds of deliciousness! Really indulgent but oh so worth every last calorie! It came with a chocolatey brownie ice cream that was heaven on a plate. It's a must try! Overall I had a really nice meal and the staff were lovely and our food came super quick! Definitely will be back!
Absolutely delicious and affordable! We were here on Valentine's Day (we grabbed the last reservation slot for brunch) and thoroughly enjoyed their Brunch of Champions! I'd never noticed this small spot right on Georges, and we never would have found it if Whitefriar Grill hadn't been booked! We were a bit squished, sitting in between two other tables, but the food soon took our mind off of it! I had the Raspberry Crush (a refreshing lemon and raspberry fizzy drink) and the veggie breakfast- a masterpiece of potato hashbrown, tomato, spinach, asparagus and two eggs. Apart from the huge mushrooms on top (somehow I misread the menu! Not a fan!) everything was delicious and the sizeable portion left me full for hours. My boyfriend ordered the Panettone french toast with blueberry compote and cream- no words can describe it. He had never tried regular Panettone before and was absolutely blown away by this amazing dish. I had a few bites and was similarly entranced (I'll probably be getting either that, or the coco pops french toast next time because WHAATTT???) The staff members were very accommodating and attentive. Apart from the dazzling food, our bill came to only 23 euro!! Amazing value, especially in a city centre place. We are definitely planning our return.
I was waking around looking for a unique restaurant because all the restaurants have the same menu in downtown Dublin. This place has a nice unique menu. I like both the food and service. The food was within my expectation, and same as the service. I enjoyed to dine at this restaurant. I had recommended to couple people to this place. I hope they will have a great experience too.
Weekday brunch menu is fantastic! I had a great spicy All Day Bloody Mary , the set lunch Pan-fried gambas & Hake al forno. Both were phenomenal!! Our friend had the crab cakes which was a huge brunch special and he loved it!! My boyfriend had the Irish Black Angus 8oz sirloin and proclaimed it the best meal in all of Dublin!! We finished with the NY Nutella baked cheesecake which deservedly won the best dessert award in 2013!! Awesome food and friendly service!! Owner Temple was so nice!! Just a fantastic spot!!
This place has a coolness factor about it. No. 1. If you want a table on a Sunday call well in advance. No. 2. If you like really tasty food from a very exciting menu then make sure you act on No. 1.
Brunch of Champions! Yes, yes it is! Love this place, it's kitted out really well and feels like a cool place to eat/drink and be merry with your friends. Their menus are incredible and their notoriety for their brunch is well deserved, I mean... This brunch menu is bold and with some interesting, eye catching options it's hard to decide. Like one day, I came here wanting eggs benedict and then seen coco pops french toast, how could I not order that! This place is extremely popular so if you want to guarantee a sitting for dinner or brunch, make sure you get a reservation in. A walk in is a real gamble!
This place was amazing for a romantic date on Valentine's Day. Everything about it was perfect. We were welcomed by a menu with special cocktails they had for that particular day. We started with one of these each. I went for the rye whiskey cocktail and my girlfriend opted for the gin, crime de cassis alternative. Both were beautiful and loaded with booze! We followed these by a pork belly starter and a buffalo cheese starter. The pork belly was drizzled in the most delicious sauce and the lemon wedge added a zest to the dish that left me dying for more. The salad that accompanied the buffalo cheese was fantastic and tasty. For a main I got the Himalayan aged rib eye which was beautiful! Would seriously advise anyone to try it! The duck fat roasties and mushrooms literally melted in my mouth. My girlfriend got the hake which I tried and it was succulent and fresh. To finish off our meal we got the Nutella cheesecake which YA GOTTA GET. Probably one of the best desserts I've ever tried in my entire chocolate filled life. I was incredibly stuffed from my steak but managed to almost lick the crumbs from the plate. Be warned though they're massive so one to share would be perfect! Lastly the service and ambiance was superb. Our waitress was so attentive even though they were flat out and while the wine we ordered was sold out we were stuck between two others so she ran off and got two full wine glasses for us to try others. So, so helpful!! We were asked several times if we were happy and 'how was the food' but there was an exceptional medium where they weren't in our face about it that I loved! Lastly the fact that the view from the washroom you can see the entire kitchen really appealed to me because it shows the kitchen is spotless and well run. 5 out of 5 for everything!
The food was really good. Excellent service. Fair price. If you don't want to eat at a crazy busy pub this is a great choice.
I went there on a Monday evening for the early bird which runs all night. We had a table booked for half 6 but the place wasn't that busy so I think you can go there without booking at the start of the week. Went for the sardine bruschetta as a starter - nothing to say, it was perfect. Then I had their pasta with zucchini and Parmesan, I could have licked the plate! I usually dont order pasta dishes as I find them boring but this one was great. I wanted the Nutella cheesecake unfortunately it was gone so had the pecan pie instead with maple syrup and salted caramel ice cream - I'm still drooling thinking about it! Very good service, super nice staff.
Wonderful place. Seriously busy, so make sure to reserve a table in advance. They do accept walk-ins, but you might be waiting for a while - so make sure to bring snacks! Great place to go after a long night out and in need of some soul food to fill you up with goodness. They do also serve a wide selection of cocktails that can get you back in shape in no time.
This place shocked me! I found San Lorenzo's via Yelp, so thank you Yelpers! It is one of the few places in Dublin that takes American Express cards. So you can leave home without it when you come here When we asked if they had a table they said only if you are up from the table in an hour. We were hungry so we agreed The environment is dark and tasteful and lively The wine list is not good, but the food and the staff make up for everything The avocado and caprese salad was awesome The shrimp in wine sauce was off the charts delicious The chicken breast wrapped in prosciutto was delicious and the polenta and creamed corn were spectacular The monk fish wrapped in crispy pancetta on a bed of pesto basil was amazing To top it off we had the Nutella cheesecake with Carmel sauce and gelato with biscotti crumbs on top- this was surreal!!! All this and we were done with all the food, a bottle of wine and cappuccinos in an hour and never felt rushed If you are in the mood for Italian food, come to San Lorenzo's
I'm gonna keep this short because tears are coming to my eyes thinking about the fact that I'm not eating here right now. I need a moment to compose myself before diving into how great this place was... We came here on a Sunday, suitably extremely hungover and the place was busy as hell. I had booked a table for the 3pm slot (after noting that the 1pm & 2pm slots were already filled) a week in advance; a very popular location. Sitting down I knew what I was ordering before looking at the menu. cocopopsfrenchtoast! Ahem. Let me say that again: Coco-Pops French Toast. I'd heard about, I'd seen the pictures, I'd struggled to grasp what this could possibly be but here I was, finally ordering it. You know when you've built something up in your head and then that thing happens and you're like 'meh..that was only ok' and you knew secretly deep down you had built it up too much for it to be any good? That didn't happen here. This dish met every single expectation and then exceeded them, casually. I was left in a state of knowing recognition that what I was experiencing was as close to perfection as any sweet dish would get. The other dishes that people are eating will catch your gaze and you will vow to return as soon as possible. Also the bathrooms were awesome caus you get to watch the kitchen from them. Visit them, even if you don't actually have to go to the bathroom In short: come here. The decor is great, atmosphere is amazing but the food elevates everything, even a very hungover Sunday, to a fantastic plane.
FINALLY made it to San Lorenzo's. Friends have been raving about it, so I wanted to try the place. We went for dinner, and it was delicious! Both me and my eat-mate had the Veal parmesan piccata with white wine, lemon & capers, mac'n'cheese, and char-grilled green asparagus. It was really quite nice. Upon ordering we really wondered how piccata and macaroni and cheese were going to work, but took a chance. In truth, if they just brought out a big pan of the macaroni, we would have been even happier. We also got the wine special, which was delightful. And to end the delicious meal, we split the very tasty New York Nutella baked cheesecake with chocolate brownie ice-cream, salted caramel sauce. That was an experience. I think I might be back just to have a slice of that monster with some good wine. Sounds like a wonderful night to me!
I'd heard a fair bit about San Lorenzo's, mostly about the brunch admittedly, but when I got the chance to try here for a work lunch, I jumped on it! On this occasion, I had absolutely no complaints to make about the experience! It was definitely a place I would recommend to a friend for lunch. A plate of calamari was more than enough to share between two, and was very tasty. The flavours used are really great, and particularly good were the slightly char-grilled squid legs that come in full formation. Normally I'm put off by food that looks like the creature it once was but for this meal, that was not enough to put me off the taste. It was perfect with a glass of very cold sauvignon blanc. (My lunch date's wine was less cold, which was probably the only negative we encountered.) For mains I was torn between steak and the pasta, but thankfully went for the latter as I was also saving space for dessert. It was so delicious, probably one of the better pasta dishes I've ever had. The pork sausage was so soft and almost melted away, which was delicious in my opinion. The pasta was very obviously freshly made in the kitchen, and the sauce was perfect with it. I had to leave some behind for fear of bursting, but I'm still thinking about it. For dessert I had intended on getting the infamous, wonderous, glorious Nutella cheesecake, but had to say no this time, there simply wasn't the space. Thankfully I managed to get a taste of it anyway, and it was definitely all I had hyped it up to be. I went for the ice-cream selection myself, which was vanilla (rich, creamy and flavoursome), chocolate (the PERFECT chocolate ice-cream) and salted caramel (I hate salted caramel, and this was still amazing). Delirah with myself so I was. Service was very friendly, and the place was very quiet at the time. It's lots of two-person tables so I'd imagine it gets quite noisy in the night, and there are some pumping tunes, but it was perfect for the lunch. I'll be back for that brunch!
So I went here for the third time tonight and I must say my experience was much better than my previous two trips. The food was reasonably priced and very yummy. i had the goats cheese brushcetta for starters and the tuna steak for main and I loved both and I would now recommend it to folk. It was lovely.
